WB Bench

Its close, but i have to take Coco on this one, his bench is more balanced.

Center: Okay, I understand there are no injuries, but injury or no injury, I'll take Bogut over Bynum anyday. Bogut is a monster on the boards and on D, he has averaged 2.5+ blocks/game this year and last. Bynum might be a little better on the offensive end, but not a very significant degree. And then JJ Hickson is developing into a star. I take WB for center

PF: Josh Smith is one of the better power forwards in the league and is a monster on the defensive end, he racks up blocks like anything. Love is developing into a star as well, his 30/30 game on my Knicks was pretty impressive, so I think they average each other out. Paul Millsap has been great over the last couple of years, and has been playing great so far this year too though, but Beasley is developing into a great player as well. There is so much talent on both teams at this position, so I think they average out. Push for PF

SF: LeBron is the most complete player in the NBA, but Durant isn't far behind. Durant is already a better shooter, but LeBron is better at the other things, and 3 years from now his edge on Durant will be minimal, if not gone. I love Luol Deng though, and as a result I give SF to CoCo

SG: Monta Ellis is explosive, but he is a very one dimensional player, and I think he will continue to be one dimensional 3 years from now. Manu is aging, but 3 years from now I would still think he is as good as Ellis, because he is a great shooter and plays nice defense. Kevin Martin is very talented, but three years from now I think Evan Turner will be as good. SG is a push

PG: Stuckey is pretty good, but now that he is a starter, Darren Collison is playing great. And with Devin Harris off the bench, WB has two great young point guards splitting time, and I would take both of them over Stuckey and Calderon. PG to WB

Overall, it was pretty close, but I think WB has a better team, and also a more balanced one, as almost all of his players play well on both ends of the floor

I think that Whiskey's team was power ranked at the top for a reason. I feel that he has a top team in the league that is incredibly deep and balanced. Coco has some very good players, but I think he has to rely on a lot of maturity and development in order to have a great team, whereas WhiskeyBreath's team already has it. They both have stronger frontcourts than backcourts, but I'd almost take WB's starting lineup in a sweep over Coco's, except for maybe Collison vs. Stuckey. Granted, I'd say that Ellis is more talented than Ginobili, but I think that Ginobili is a much better rounded, balanced, and reliable player than Ellis, and that Ginobili is a better fit for the team.

I like Coco's team alot, that's why I ranked him 4th in the power rankings, but I had WhiskeyBreath's team on top, because I truly believe that his team is the team that other teams will have to try and beat, and that only 1-2 teams can potentially beat his. I just think that there are too many question marks on Coco's team that would have to work in his favour if he's going to have a shot at beating WhiskeyBreath.

I'll keep coco alive here. Long term, Durant is the best player on the teams. The Martin, Beasley, Calderon, and Deng combo off the bench will be too much for WB's bench to handle. Bynum and Hansbrough will need to take the role of hackers in this series - which I think they're capable of - in order to stop James, Ginobili, and Collison. I think WB is too one-dimensional offensively and doesn't have enough defensively to advance here.

I like Coco.

I think I have the best defensive team. My entire front court will be in the running for the All NBA Defensive teams. Coco's bench is terrible defensively. I really can't believe YH thinks my defense isn't very good.

James is a better player than Durant. His defense and passing ability puts him over the top. The guy does it all.

I vote for me.

Would we get enough votes in then? Besides' date=' it does equal itself out.[/quote']

There are 12 people in this league and takes 4 to win. Yes we will have enough votes. I agree YanksHater voting for yourself is dumb but we can't just take out the rule now since we already did it. At least Whiskey gave an explanation so with that vote Whiskey advances to the next round.

Yeah, but keep in mind that youker is never going to vote, and very often people don't bother to come on and vote. jbay44 hasn't voted in any matchups either. It took over a day to get enough votes

If you guys want for the next round I'll make it that you can't vote for yourself, but for this round you can

WB advances

I think that it's a good idea to be able to vote for your team in the early rounds, just because most of them are reasonably easy to decide, and that speeds up the process. However, on the other hand, we don't really want the finals to be decided by people voting for their own team, so I think that after this round (which would leave the final 4 I think) would be a great time to disable voting for your own team.

I think it's pretty dumb to have the deciding vote be one for yourself. I didn't vote here, and neither did a few other regulars. That has to change for the next round.
Posted
It was established a few posts ago that this will be the LAST round in which teams can vote for themselves. So once it gets to the final four, teams cannot vote for themselves. Anyways, while the deciding vote was technically cast by one of the teams in this thing (Whiskey), the other team (Coco) had also voted for himself.

One problem I have with this is that everyone DID vote when they did the power rankings. That's why WhiskeyBreath's team was voted #1 and Coco's team was voted #9 (although in all fairness, I had him 4th). Similarly, my team was ranked 2nd and YH's team was ranked 7th. Even though not everyone voted directly on the matchup, everyone did the power rankings, and most people must have thought that WhiskeyBreath had a great team if he was power ranked first. The only exception would be if ytrb played with the power rankings, but I doubt that would be the case if his team was 5th.

Posted
I find first to four too arbitrary for my liking. I'd prefer anset voting window (something like 48 hours) for each round and just put all the matchups out there at once.
Posted
I agree with you on the not having teams vote for themselves rule. I just meant that technically, every team did have a say in the matter when it came to the power rankings. We all agreed that after the next vote (you vs. ytrb) that teams will not be allowed to vote for their team.

This is a work in progress. We learned a lot from the baseball draft (although many of the teams here weren't a part of it) and we're learning a lot here that we can implement for the football draft.
