The way I see it, Beckett is pitching like he usually does at the beginning of a season. Which for him, it actually is. This is his April.

But the clock is ticking on the Sox season. Time to sack-up Josh.

Satellite says nothing huge and wet-looking north of about Virginia. We'll be wet tomorrow but I think tonight's OK unless it's really fast-moving.

Then what was April?

He did actually show signs of promise last start. He did very well, before being lit up. If he can take those first five innings, and pitch like that for the next two or three, who knows. But that's a big if-- Beckett was the last chance this team had at the playoffs, and quite frankly, I think they're better off to bring out Doubront, or dare I say Wake.

They just need to give him a REALLY short leash. At the first sign of trouble he needs to get yanked. The problem is that Francoma is the manager...

if francona takes him out after he's only given up 5 runs, that would be progress for him

Francona will have less patience tonight. He'll yank him after 5 runs leaving the bases loaded with no one out.

My prediction-- Ichiro will have atleast three hits tonite. But when bad hitting comes up against bad pitching, its impossible to predict.

Game postponed

posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff August 24, 2010 07:15 PM

Tonight's game between the Red Sox and Mariners has been postponed. The teams will play a twinbill tomorrow. The first game will start at 1:35 and the second game at 7:10. Tonight's tickets are good for tomorrow night's game.

The first game is actually the regular time for tomorrow's game, so you would have missed it anyway.
