I think Randy Johnson late in his career was the scariest mofo ever:

I'd be afraid that would come flying out of my closet with an axe one night.

Creepier than Youk? Than Lackey? Than Papelbon?
Papelbon is dopey looking more so than creepy looking. He looks scary on the mound.

He puts Ayabar away to finish a dominant outing. Love that Dirty Water. Sox win!!!

This might be the funniest thing I have ever read...

Dom Mossi had two careers, one as a reliever an one as a starter, and he was pretty darned good at both. No one who saw him play remembers that, because Mossi's ears looked as if they had been borrowed from a much larger species, and reattached without proper supervision. His nose was crooked, his eyes were in the wrong place... he looked like Gary Gaetti escaping from Devil's Island.

One of the problems with choosing the ugliest and handsomest players is that a player who looks short of grotesque in one pose or one photograph will look fine in another. Susie, [James' wife], showed me a picture of Hoyt Wilhelm in which he looked positively handsome. I assured her it was just a bad shot.

You never had this problem with Don Mossi. Don Mossi was the complete five-tool ugly player. He could run ugly, hit ugly, throw ugly, field ugly, and ugly for power. He was ugly to all fields. He could ugly behind the runner as well as anybody, and you talk about pressure... man, you never saw a player who was uglier the in clutch.

But let's make sure that we say nothing offensive about Muslims.

The big difference is that Catholics (and Christians) at least pretend that they are tolerant where as the Muslims are straight up radical (convert or die). (Mostly in respect to the religion itself, not just people).

I agree, I can't stand the fact that religion is "off limits". I loved the Muhammad South Park episodes and was angered at Comedy Central for giving in and censoring a few episodes (although it could have been an inside joke) but we all saw the fallout from that. From a pure safety standpoint though, you're playing with fire with Muslims. While I'm a vocal atheist, I don't want to put a huge target on my back when it comes to people willing to kill themselves to prove a point.

I've always wondered how we could get through to devout religious peoples (the stubborn, brainwashed, fundamental folk) and I fear it just may be impossible. So the question becomes, what do we do?

I wish nothing was off-limits. But that's not the world we live in. Where I grew up, everything was fair game. It wasn't unusual for friends to insult each other in ways that today's PC police would deem to be a hate crime. It was a give and take, and it was eminently more fair than these PC rules imposed upon us by the media, press and other factions of society. We learned limits. We learned what was fair game and what would get you punched in the nose. For all of the so-called progress made in society today, we have created a bizarre society that has certain sacred cows that cannot be criticized or joked about while also tolerating fashionable ridicule of other groups, and no one can challenge these PC guidelines without fear of losing your livelihood or being shunned. As a society, we've lost all sense of perspective and proportion on these issues.

Man where has that Papelbon been all year? Nice to see him get a boost like that. Maybe the 6 days off did him some good.

After that outing I don't feel ashamed at using the :papelbon: icon lol
