Not falling behind 2-0 to everyone would help.

His pitch count isn't terrible yet. At this point, I think we'd hope for 6 and a third, maybe two thirds. It's also possible that Doubront comes in for the 7th. At least he isn't named Manny Delcarmen.

This Angels lineup is a joke. Callaspo in the 3 hole? Really?

I'm not sure why Abreu isn't hitting 3rd either. Or why Napoli is so low.

Actually, Abreu makes isn't a bad choice batting leadoff, it's just unusual. Like batting a fast Youkilis leadoff. Still, that Angels lineup is constructed really oddly.

6 run lead' date=' pitcher over 100 pitches through 6, why is he still in the game?[/quote']

He was at 65 after 5. He's still hitting his spots and throwing hard. He entered the game at 126 innings. The Sox have problems with the pen. He's about to close out the 7th.

I have no problems with that.

another dominant start from buchholz. that's the fifth start in a row that he's gone at least 7 innings and he's allowed an earned run or less in four of those starts. his era on the year is now 2.36

can anyone guess who the last al east starter was to have an era under 2.50?

Buchholz isn't in the top 40 in pitches thrown, while both Lackey and Lester are in the top 10. It makes more sense to burden Buchholz a bit more and see if you can preserve the bullpen for Lackey and Lester.
