Who's getting sent down?

I would be inclined to think it's Daniel Nava, simply so he can play every day at Pawtucket. He will be back in on the roster in September anyway.

i completely missed that he was called up yesterday. you're probably right

The pitching has to be extremely good the rest of the season for them to grab a playoff spot.

It's a shame this team has done so awful against the worst teams in the league this year.

How dare you doubt the Sox!:o:D

The cards are stacked against them.

Maybe everything will all of a sudden start working in the Sox favor. Not that likely. But one can hope.

i agree' date=' our pitching has to step up these next two months. that start from beckett was a great sign though, he now has a 2.18 era since coming off the dl. if we can get him going along with lester and buchholz we'll have a real shot at a playoff spot[/quote']

The Sox have to score more runs than their opponents even with lights out pitching from the starters. Youk is done for the season. Who can replace his production?

it's gotta be eric patterson. we have no use for him now that kalish and lowrie are on the roster

The Sox love Patterson. Does he have options?

there's nothing official on youkilis, he could potentially be back in two weeks. but even if he is out for the year people have beeing saying "[insert player here] is out, who can replace his production?" all season long and somehow we've managed. as great a hitter as youkilis is, we'll be in a better position with v-mart, ellsbury and pedroia in the lineup than we were with youkilis in the lineup and all of them on the dl

Official? No. But. If one reads what the Doctors have said, Youk is gone for at least six weeks (assuming that he has a partial tear and not a rupture). He needs surgery either way.

He's gone. Two weeks? That's fiction.

Again, who replaces or supplants Youk's offensive production for the rest of the season?

Youkilis sounded pretty optimistic in the post-game on NESN, but that could just be him, he really wants to play.

If Mike Lowell can give us 2/3s the power numbers Youkilis does, the lineup two weeks from now will be better than the lineup two weeks ago. Kalish/Ellsbury/Drew would be far better than Hermida/injured Cameron/Drew. And of course, allegedly Pedroia and V-Mart do some pretty cool things with the bat.

This lineup will be worse than a lineup with a healthy Youk, ofc. But it's been a lot worse this season.

red sox manager, and now fiction writer terry francona

"There's a chance maybe in two weeks hopefully it scars up a little bit [and] he feels good enough to play and be productive."

there are also quotes from theo epstein and a doctor saying he may not need surgery

Lester vs Masterdon tomorrow! Add another win to the record :D

I just want to point out that his wife had their first child this week. As much as I love watching Lester pitch, he's been off lately, and I think its very reasonable to assume it has been because of that.
