Same old s*** from Dice K. He's as inconsistent as any pitcher the Sox have had in a long time. Even Wakefield is more consistent with the knuckleball.

Does Hermida take any practice in LF. He doesn't know the wind currents-- the easiest aspect of playing LF, and he also has not figured out some of the easier caroms.

There is no excuse for not knowing and playing the wall better than he does at this point. He should be out there taking fungos off the wall everyday during home stands. Maybe he does and just sucks.

I have described him as Mike Greenwell without the speed and grace.

He's awful on the road too though. His defensive statistics denote massive suckage throughout his entire career.

he is but he's also been a bit lucky

He's been extremely lucky with a .138 BABIP. But let's enjoy it while it lasts.

He could get to the ball. He had good hands' date=' but he had bad hands. He would drop balls.[/quote']

His wife was always nice to me!

8-2 against NY' date=' Philly, Minnesota, and Tampa and then a 1-run loss to the Royals and Brian Bannister, who I'm fairly certain was the guy who took my order at TGIF last week.[/quote']

It happens. They had to lose a game eventually. Just go get them tomorrow. However, with all those hits off Bannister, they should have definitely scored more runs.

So much for this team being on track. They can't win. FIRE SALE FIRE SALE!

Hahaha don't worry. People who actually feel that way will show up before the night is over.

They did not take care of business tonight. They should have blown them out of the water.

Ehh, one of the things about baseball is that a 100 game loser wins 62. No one's going to beat anyone else consistently. This was just their night, especially with Daisuke this discombobulated.

Everyone has bad nights, at least Daisuke did a fair job of limiting the damage. Get 'em next time.

Daisuke, Daisuke.... Oh brother. Oh well.

From near no-hitter against the closest thing the N.L. has to an American league offense in Philly to 8 walks and 4.2 innings against.... the Royals. Whatever.

He says he's sore.

This is kind of what Gammons was talking about one day on WEEI in Boston, he said it following Matsuzaka's bad outing vs. the NYY. Daisuke basically said he wasn't totally comfortable with Vmart or the pitches he called. Gammons said it's ironic since there were times that Dice K didn't act comfortable with Varitek.

In other words, it's Dice K that's not comfortable with himself. Gammons said that Red Sox players have said "it's just always something with him, it's never his fault."

Daisuke Matsuzaka suggested that he has been dealing with “lower body soreness” after his eight-inning, one-hit effort against the Phillies. He suggested that he is frustrated by the fact that his body “didn’t cooperate.” Yet none of the other key observers on the Sox (Terry Francona, John Farrell or Jason Varitek) suggested that there was a physical cause for Matsuzaka’s eight walks (tied for most in his career).

Varitek, for instance, noted that the pitcher was just as “powerful” on Thursday as he was against the Phillies last Saturday. The catcher spent quite a bit of time after the game talking to Matsuzaka (through translator Masa Hoshino) in the clubhouse.

A comment on the job Dice K did on the Phillies American league style lineup. The Mets just completed a sweep of the Phillies with Pelfrey and two bags of garbage. The Philly lineup is slumping right now. Let's not read too much into that Dice K start. Thursday night was closer to his norm. He's basically a 5 inning pitcher that walks a ton of guys and has you pulling the hair out of your head. That is what he has been since he arrived. It hasn't changed. Saturday was the aberration.

Another annoying thing is how the whining prima dona constantly makes excuses for sucking. Theobshould call Houston and try to unload this Japanese National Treasure plus a prospect for Oswalt, who is a bulldog.

I'm not necessarily pointing to Lester on this one, but that's my problem with how people treat Dice-K. He nearly throws a one-hitter, and when he comes out the next game feeling tired and gives up 3 earned runs its like he's back to being the scum of the earth immediately. He threw a lot of quality pitches last time up, so he's going to be sore.

Sore? 8 walks worth of sore? This is the type of big league pitcher that he has been since he got here. Maybe the soreness accounted for 2 or 3 of the walks, but 5 is very common for him. Again let's not make too much out of the Philly game, they just got swept by the Mets who shut them down with R.A. Dickey, a 37 year old bullpen pitcher from Japan, and Pelfrey. Is Dice K scum? No, but he is pretty close to what we saw last night. He's much closer to that than what we saw on Saturday night.

He's the new Oil Can, except painfully slow and boring.
