18 games of interleague is too much

Wake's the man. It's beautiful when the knuckleball dominates a team that's an offensive powerhouse. Here's hoping Buch and Lester can bring it against the MFRs early this week. They must be destroyed. Anyone have an update on the Astros/Rays game?

The definition of to undervalue is to assign too low a value to; to underestimate; or to have too little regard or esteem for' date=' so my point stands. I think our fan base does undervalue Drew, on the whole. Rather than focusing on the things he does well that are valuable to the team--i.e., field his position, hustle on every play, get on base, not make outs, take pitches, say very little to the media, be a well-regarded family man--instead, fans over-obsess about what they perceive that Drew is not, and most of those observations are either erroneous, overblown, and/or based on fans' own hang-ups about how much money players make. (Drew makes too much money! He's not a Dirt Dog! He doesn't hit for enough power to justify his salary! He's dull! He gets injured too much!) In pretty much every statistical category that's of worth for someone at his position, Drew is the best right fielder the Sox have had since Dwight Evans. Many Sox fans fail to recognize that. Thus, they, the fans, undervalue him. Fortunately, the front office does not.[/quote']You are not basing this on the reaction of 35,000 + fans at the 81 home games each year, so you are obviously basing it on some other smaller statistically invalid information. You have nothing to back up your point.

4-2 Astros, bottom of the 4th inning.

From what i read, they want to give him a couple more AB's before he gets back. ETA-Tuesday.

Does Drew lack passion for the game? "Passion" can't even be quantified.

Sure it can, in "Rondo" or "KG" points. Example: Last nights Rondo play where he stole the ball, dove to get it, got up and finished with a layup. That's quantifying passion and "will to win". :D

So how can you describe Drew's "Lack of passion" in baseball for me?

This question is not literal, but an attempt to illustrate the point.

I'm also picking up the NESN feed on Extra Innings, but it is not in HD. I will usually watch an HD feed if possible, but listening to the RemDog and Orsilik is great. Comcast needs to get their act together when it comes to HD feeds of MLB games.

Lowell is a bench player' date=' he can play 1B and 3B. We have one regular catcher, one regular 1B and one regular 3B.[/quote']Our regular catcher should be a part time first baseman and DH, because he sucks at catcher, and too much catching hurts his offense (which is his best quality). Hence, the logjam.

He doesn't break his bat over his knee after he strikes out, duh.

We have a backup catcher getting the job done. He can be used in spots enough to keep the other catcher fresh without taking a massive hit on offense if said catcher is played in the right situations. Hence, no logjam.

Well he also doesn't stand there and look at his HR's when he hits them........i think we're on to something here.......

I have Fios and this game is actually in HD. They only offer 2 HD channels in their baseball package. Direct TV is the best. Every game you have 4 choices, home or away broadcast, HD and non-HD. Can't have a dish where I live.

Also, i am sure that there have been numerous meetings with Ortiz and Lowell and maybe others about this issue. You are ignoring an obvious issue.

Some people see what they want to see, not whats actually there. Now, I don't know the exact level of passion Drew or anyone else has, but it is evident in his play that he hustles, plays hard, and IS emotional, and as far as I know he puts in the practice time to be good.

Anyways, you are right too, it is impossible to actually quantify, I was half-joking, I'm still pumped up from the Celtics lastnight. Rondo!

The issue is Lowell. But he's not a major issue. I think that you're overblowing a non-issue. The rotation is working, everyone's hitting, and the odd-man out is Lowell.

I think you're reaching a little here. It's a game thread. I felt like responding to a play where Drew got a quick jump on a ball, because it reminded me of the many times Drew gets great jumps on balls and therefore doesn't have to dive to make a play (like Trot often had to do), and that's why I made that one statement that I think most Sox fans, in general, tend to undervalue Drew's contributions to the Sox. I don't think there's much to argue with here, you probably just enjoy being argumentative. But that's OK too. You're prerogative and this is a message board, after all!

Wake 1/3 of the way through the 8th. Our pitching staff is back, friends.

Previous Sox teams have hit Halladay.

Wake is capable of keeping the Phillies in check.

Or not.

Just a reminder. :harhar:

A very small fraction of a fanbase can go to games regularly, be it due to finances, schedule conflicts, or geographical location. His description of the overall fanbase, the one I run into, at Sox bars, at road games, on message boards, is accurate.

I use to have Directv, but they screwed me over, so I dumped them.
