Good win tonight guys but Papelbon looks shaky at best. Good news is, he'll probably look all world against Rays hitters if they continue to keep their eyes shut while at the plate. :(

See you guys next week, looking forward to it!

I agree. As good as this win was, it's disconcerning how bad Papelbon's velocity/control has been the last two games. It seems like something might be wrong with him physically. He's a guy that's had some issues with his shoulder in the past, and a bad shoulder might as well be a death sentence for a pitcher.

It's my fault. I got a little too excited about the win, had a little alcohol in me and the rest is history. You did make a post after Mo blew the save, and you're a good poster.

It's irritating when other Yankees fans join a Red Sox site, then only post when things go wrong for the Red Sox. I clearly got carried away though, you're not one of those posters.

Next time just tell me that I'm being an ass and I'll shut up :D

Haha, fair enough. As frustrating and disappointing a game it was in my eyes, I know that you guys are equally excited. Enjoy the win.

Furthermore, I appreciate the votes of confidence from Dipre, SOTK, and Spudboy. Thanks guys.

So if the Yanks protest the Beckett removal and win' date=' does that mean the game is a do-over or a loss?[/quote']

There's no way the protest works, but if it does, the game would be picked up at the time of the protest, with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

From my understanding, the Yankees did protest the win. And if the protest is successful, the game will be played from the time the protest was filed. But it's highly unlikely that Girardi's protest will be successful. In order for a protest to be granted, a player or umpire has to break a rule and that didn't happen tonight.

Girardi's already protested a game and lost in his short managerial career. He's a very... active manager.

Just out of curiosity' date=' what part of the game did you protest?[/quote']

The Papelbon entry, I'm sticking up for the brothah. He was hurt and Francona forgot to take him out.

If that isn't working, I'm protesting Matsuzaka on the grounds of the Red Sox paid the posting fee for him with counterfeit money.

Ha! Gullible Japanese! Those were CANADIAN dollars! AHAHAHAHAHA

Yep.

And now the Red Sox are the gullible ones for taking the Gyroball man. The Japanese are dancin' in the streets.

Yeah, I have the feeling the Japanese faked his success so they could get a $50 million posting fee to pay for more high speed rail :D

In this series' date=' they showed character and an ability to compete with the Yankees on the road. The trip may have accomplished a lot more than 1 win 1 loss. I have had it with some of the negative ions like Example I on this site. Buck up! There is nothing wrong with this team. They will start to put things together.[/quote']

You are basically my polar opposite. When I'm praising the FO you're s***ing on them. When I'm down on the players you're up on them. I see it as genuinely bizarre.

Actually I agree with you that they will start to put it together. I think this has the makings of a 90-96 win team if they can get themselves in order and start grabbing some wins. The last two nights were impressive and the character of this team seems to be coming together. I like just about all of the veterans they added--Hermida, Beltre, Scutaro, Lackey, Cameron--and think that we should expect most of them to have solid seasons.

I may be overreacting, but their SP problems are concerning because aside from Lester and Buchholz their rotation hs pretty suspect right now. Even with Buchholz I'm holding my breath more often than not. If their SPs can find another level of performance then this team could make a legitimate run this year. If they can't then I expect a lot of frustrating games.

For me this series shows that this team has a lot of heart. In both games not giving up after being down 5-0 in both. A Save by Paps in Game 1 and we would have taken both. I will certainly take the split.

I f***ING FELL ASLEEP! I turned the sound off during Girardi's pissy pants protest and promptly fell asleep. I didn't wake up until 3:30 in the morning. I am so pissed. But I am greatful for these threads, it probably recreates the action better than anything I'll read in the papers.

And will someone change Girardi's diaper, it's making him cranky. Protest that you asswipe. I hated him as a player and I hate him even more as a manager.

Oh and Chamomile the Yankee fan you described is Diony. Just saying.

NEW YORK -- While playing a key role in Boston's four-run rally in the eighth inning on Tuesday night, right fielder J.D. Drew tweaked his right hamstring. The good news is that Drew said he's hopeful he can start on Wednesday night against the Twins.

Drew's delivered a clutch RBI double to left against Joba Chamberlain and ran gingerly into second. He didn't look much better while scoring on a single to right by Kevin Youkilis.

"His left calf was hurting and then he was trying to compensate, and he felt his right hammy, so it was cold so we got him out of there," manager Terry Francona said after the Red Sox's 7-6 victory. "That ended up being the best thing I did all night."

Francona was making a lighthearted reference to the fact that Drew's replacement -- Jeremy Hermida -- wound up with the game-winning hit, a two-out double to left in the ninth.

"I just didn't want to take a chance with it," said Drew. "It couldn't get loose, I couldn't stay warm. It was hard to kind of get it loosened up. We'll get in there tomorrow and be ready to go again."

is it just me or was yankee stadium half empty lastnight ?

Wasn't just you... your eyes are working fine. I'm sure the weather had a lot to do with it but damn you just don't expect an empty seat with Sox/Yanks.

BTW... thanks for the article on Drew. :)

I was going to mention this. I didn't get home until the start of the 9th inning. I thought there might've been a rain delay, but apparently not. How can you have so many empty seats for such a big series?
