It seemed pretty lackluster and forced. It was interesting to hear him in the booth, he definitely has the gift of gab.

I'm glad all ended amicably.

I thought that it felt forced too, which I found strange because it didn't have to be. If he's a little bit more genuine, and a lot less political, I'll start adoring him like we used to.

I loved trot nixon as a kid and I don't think he deserves a day. It would turn into a circus of former players wanting their day.

Nice picture of Pesky and Nomar. Mia in the Background.

I remember looking at the paper one morning (this was back when they had newspapers) and seeing that Nomar had 10 RBI the night before: two grannies and a two-run HR. That made him pretty legendary in my eyes. (And if I'm remembering that wrong, don't tell me because it's a beautiful memory.)

[Haha! Just found it. May 10, 1999.]

And I remember in the '99 postseason against Cleveland, one night he just terrorized the Guardians' pitching staff all game long. Finally near the end of the game they IBBed him and then Troy O'Leary killed the ball. Pick your poison.

Anyway, those are the moments that really draw you to a player.

EDIT: Oops, got that second memory entirely backwards. They had IBBed Nomar twice and O'Leary had hit HRs both times right afterward. So late in the game they finally pitched to Nomar (with 1st base open) and he cracked an RBI double. Thank you, intarwebs, for correcting my memory.

I dont' know why Nomar gets a contract after he whined his out of Boston and turned a huge contract extension from the team. Pitiful guy he really is

These ceremonies this team puts on are starting to lose significance. I mean, why didnt they just honor Nomar on opening day as they did with Pedro. To me it seems that Larry Luchino is more interested in the "story book" side of the RedSox. It always seems he is trying to raise the bar and honor people in a story book ending type of way. Remember opening day? All that ******** about the Redsox Yankees rivalry? Was is necessary? They were playing their hated rivals, on opening day (a holiday around these parts). Was it really necessary for all the bells and whistles?

Whats next?

Mark Bellhorn appreciation day?

Appreciation of Dave Mccarty pitching in a blowout day?

Pokey Reese fielding a ground ball to win against the New York Yankees in game seven of the major league baseball playoffs league championship series only to win the first world series in 86 years day?
