Daisuke Matsuzaka, RHP (0-1, 11.57)

Matsuzaka's first start back from the disabled list was a roller-coaster event. He was terrific over his first four innings, giving up just one hit and one run. But in the fifth, the Orioles pounded Matsuzaka for six runs. Overall, he gave up seven hits and seven runs (six earned) over 4 2/3 innings. This will be Matsuzaka's first start of 2010 at Fenway Park. Matsuzaka has made 36 career starts at Fenway, going 19-11 with a 4.37 ERA. He has made just two career regular-season starts against the Angels, going 1-1 with a 4.91 ERA. The win came last year, when Matsuzaka fired six shutout innings. Matsuzaka has limited opponents to a .246 average during his career.

Scott Kazmir, LHP (2-1, 5.57)

Kazmir continues to make strides toward a return to All-Star form. He pitched effectively in Detroit, holding the Tigers to two runs (one earned) in six innings. He yielded five hits and four walks while striking out seven, bringing his slider into the game along with his fastball and changeup. When he finds his razor-sharp command with all of his pitches, Kazmir will be back in prime form. Kazmir is 8-7 with a 3.59 ERA in 23 career starts against the Red Sox and is 6-4, 3.05 in 13 outings at Fenway Park.

Mojos in effect:

"Other team uniforms" mojo.

"No whining, bitching, moaning or being overly negative" (In fact, people who exhibit this kind of behavior should be issued a one-day ban by the mods so they don't f*** with the mojo)

"Adrian Beltre is awesome" mojo.

"Big Papi is back" mojo.

"Speak in third person" mojo.

"Pasta" mojo.

"Daisuke is not a total bust" mojo.

Why so many mojos? It's hard enough getting a four-game sweep, and harder with Matsuzaka on the mound, but with all this mojo power, we can pull it off....

WIN!!!!!!

Kazmir is toast. The Rays did well in dumping him off to the Halos last year, while they could still get something decent back in return.

Now if Dice can just hold it together and limit the damage, we should be in line for the sweep.

I would assume Ortiz will sit this one and Lowell will be the DH

Yep. As far as I've heard, that's going to be the case. Tito basically indicated as much in his reasoning for starting Papi yesterday over Lowell.

Come on Dice-K.. I live in LA and have been talking a lot of s***. Do not let me down. Here comes the sweep!

Many would say that Dice K is toast too.

I would agree with them (for the most part).

I think he'll turn it around sooner or later. He doesn't strike me as someone who's going to give up fighting anytime soon. Kazmir on the other hand has never really impressed me. He's had a couple nice stretches, but the Rays dumped him off to LA for a reason. He's become eminently hittable.

One of my friends from Austria is visiting Boston and going to his first ever Sox game tonight. Lets go ahead and finish these guys off.
