2-2, 2.19 ERA.

Clay Bucholz: Buchholz got the win -- and a save, so to speak -- on Tuesday against the Blue Jays, going a strong eight innings in a 2-1 game and, in the process, giving a depleted bullpen a needed rest. He threw a career-high 117 pitches (80 of them for strikes), allowed seven hits, two walks and a first-inning run and struck out four. Despite the pitch count, he said he still felt strong at the end. Buchholz lost his previous two starts. He allowed three runs on six hits and one walk while striking out 10 in 6 2/3 innings against the Rangers on April 22 when he made 114 pitches. He allowed four unearned runs in a loss to the Rays on April 17 when he pitched five innings, allowing three hits and striking out seven.

1-4, 5.74 ERA.

Joe Saunders: No longer Mr. April after the worst start of his career, Saunders is hoping a return to the road and Fenway Park, where he has done some of his best work, brings a return to form after two disappointing outings at Angel Stadium. He yielded a total of eight earned runs in 7 2/3 innings in losses to the Tigers and Guardians. He was fortunate to hold the Tribe to three runs on nine hits and three walks across five innings on Tuesday night, getting double plays to end three innings. Saunders is 26-10 with a 3.86 career ERA on the road, and he's 3-0, 2.84 in four starts in Boston. He's 4-1, 3.24 overall in eight lifetime outings against the Red Sox.

“We talked about this a lot at the end of the year, that we’re kind of in a bridge period,’’ he said. “We still think that if we push some of the right buttons, we can be competitive at the very highest levels for the next two years. But we don’t want to compromise too much of the future for that competitiveness during the bridge period, but we all don’t want to sacrifice our competitiveness during the bridge just for the future. So we’re just trying to balance both those issues.’’

They cannot let Buchholz break 110 again. he's too young and inexperienced to be getting those kind of pitch counts this early on, and with his confidence record, it just isn't a good idea to be leaving him in too long when he's vulnerable. If they want a bridge, don't hack the support pillars with a chisel.

Let's go Clay... need a nice start to my $$ Fantasy League!

I hope the Sox try and get "The Prince" to be our DH... he can be had IMO and we could send an intriguing package back to the Brew Crew..Kelly, Bard, and Anderson and we get our BIG bopper!:)))

Its funny that after you posted the bridge year comment, you say something like that. Trading the team's closer of the future, ace of the future, and slugger of the future for Fielder who is a liability because of his weight just doesn't seem to connect with that comment.

Bard is a reliever...

Kelly is a future ace? Says who? Oh, he PROJECTS to be a future ace... Aces don't grow on trees and there have been plenty of Casey Kelley's who never made it to ace status.. actually, probably more that didn't..so let's not go annointing an A-Ball pitcher as the heir to the throne just yet... and Lars Anderson...

Prince Fielder was the 2nd best hitter in baseball last year with a swing that lends itself to high fly balls to ALL fields... He would CRUSH in Fenway and we already have our 1st baseman in Youkilis.. we have a sack of sh!t DH who cannot hit the broad side of a barn..and the trickle-down effect of Ortiz's utter incompetence is being felt throughout the lineup.. Prince would make an immediate impact and he is just turning 26.

If one out of those three players turn out to what they project to be, then will it be worth trading ALL of them-- who will be on cheap contracts for several years-- for a slugger who will be expensive to retain, and has the exact same risk of turning out like "the sack of sh!t" Ortiz? It makes zero sense to trade a team's top two prospects and its reliever with the best value for a player like Fielder, especially after what happened to Westmoreland.

Prince...46 HR 141 RBI 1.014 OPS at age 25? I have a hard time getting past those numbers. I would do it. He is under contract through 2011. An extension would definitely have a weight clause in it.

Another error for the POS that is Adrian Beltre! But that Beltre sure can hit singles! Great f***ing job Theo..you are a real witch!

Incorrect.

I totally mentally fielded it from my couch. Easy play.

I could agree if Beltre were not heralded as such a HOOVER down there.. For someone who hits singles...I expect him to be Brooks Robinson down there the way Theo talked him up.. That play should be made by a guy who has been called the "BEST EVER" at coming in and making plays on the run from 3rd base.
