He underhanded the ball to second base. Not only did the runner beat the throw but he was already popping up and screening Pedroia from getting the throw. The throw hit the runner after he stood up, and the Sox lost any chance of getting the batter at first base.

Wow, how do you not realize there is no play at 2nd? Sounds like a complete mental error to me. Scutaro has been pretty bad defensively from what I've seen and after hearing this, it only enhances my view on his defense.
