I can't rationalise McCourty over Kindle' date=' but I'd take him over Bryant for sure. Defense is a much bigger need for the Pats than WR, especially in the first round.[/quote']

While I am inclined to agree with you, the secondary as supposed to be the one area where they didn't need help, because they signed Bodden, and drafted Butler/ Chung last season.

What this tells me is BB thinks his secondary isn't as strong as Pats fans think, and that the defense is a bigger weakness than Pats fans realize.

Also, what happened to drafting from the lines out? They need help there too. And if they insisted on drafting a perimeter player, not taking the superior Bryant or Wilson is inexcusable.

Doesn't Belichick realize that the days of him outsmarting the rest of the league are over? This season, it'll be six years since the Pats last won a super bowl.

And to make matters worse, the Jets were able to grab Wilson at 29.

Brandon Spikes, Carlos Dunlap, Taylor Mays, Navarro Bowman, Everson Griffin, Darryl Washington, Terrence Cody, ... FOR THE LOVE OF GOD BB, GET AS MANY OF THEM AS POSSIBLE.

If we draft a TE, I'm going to lose my mind... even if it's Rob Gronkowski.

It was frustrating as hell to have TWO shots at Dez Bryant, the possibility of drafting Hughes/Kindle... and then I hear Devin McCourty come out of Goodell's mouth? REALLY?

I'm still angry about it.

I felt the same thing when Pierre-Paul, Morgan, and Thomas available and then hear the name of Tyson Alualu at #10. Easily the 2nd worst first round selection after Tim Tebow. (Dez Bryant is also worth mentioning)

Hope to see at least one outside linebacker in 2nd round

EDIT: Outside linebacker Jermaine Cunningham. Not bad

Patriots selected Florida DE Jermaine Cunningham with the No. 53 overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.

Cunningham goes before more heralded teammate Carlos Dunlap. A hand-in-the dirt rusher at UF, Cunningham will convert to outside linebacker in the Pats' 3-4 defense. The 6-foot-3, 250-pound prospect was a solid collegiate producer, racking up 34 tackles for loss and 19.5 sacks in his final three years. His numbers were just as good, if not superior to Dunlap's across the board.

Brandon Spikes!! Yes nice pick

Patriots selected Florida ILB Brandon Spikes with the No. 62 pick in the 2010 draft.

We love this pick. A close friend of Florida coach Urban Meyer, Bill Belichick has an obvious affinity for Gators. Spikes is an excellent fit as the Ted backer next to Jerod Mayo in the Pats' 3-4 scheme. Though he couldn't break 5.0 seconds in the forty, Spikes' college production was elite and he won't be asked to run sideline to sideline in New England. A big hitter with playmaking cover skills, he'll give Gary Guyton a serious run for the starting lineup as a rookie.

FANTASTIC second round. BB and Urban Meyer are close, so I wouldn't also be surprised if we snipe Major Wright if possible ... Meyer is high on his professional ability as well. Not to mention it's nice to have players that already know what it's like to play together.

With the 89th pick, they trade it to Arizona for Carolina's 2011 2nd round pick

With the 90th pick, Patriots select wide receiver Talyor Price from Ohio

Price has rare speed for a bigger receiver and has garnered a lot of attention as his senior season progressed. He is explosive off the line and breaks down the cushion on defenders before they know it. He can avoid the press and shows the ability to get in and out of his breaks with the kind of burst that separates from even the best of cover corners. He makes acrobatic catches and looks very comfortable when reaching out to pluck the ball away from his body. He still needs some work on setting defenders up and selling fakes, but there is a lot to work with on this guy, and some team is apt to take him earlier than the public expects.

Pats have 8 draft picks remaining

4th round- 15th (113)

5th round- 19th (150)

6th round- 36th (205)

7th round- 22nd (229)

24th (231)

40th (247)

41st (248)

43rd (250)

I like the Pats 2nd round picks a lot. Good quality picks IMO. If they can jump up and grab Griffin I think it would be a very successful draft.

Pulling for Myron Rolle to get picked. If character is so important in the NFL now, can someone explain why he hasn't been picked? He's being penalized because he put education first and decided to take a year off to be a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford. Too smart for the NFL? Too many goals? Too good a human being? How are you going to penalize this man for being smart. It's just a shame that some NFL executives are questioning his commitment.

Most of the analysts at NFL.com , some of them good ones, thought the Patriots came out of the draft pretty well--especially with the big TE Gronkowski and all those Gators. BB seems to have the skinny on the best players coming out of Florida. They also liked that WR from Ohio, who came from a pass-poor program.

There was some criticism initially about Day 1, but Day 2 seems to have dissipated that. I suspect they took that CB no.1 because they are perenially weak at CB, and the Jets were probably going to pick him. He also has kick and punt return talents they can use. I thought BB should have rolled the dice on Dez hot dog, but those types migrate to predictable teams. Most of the others don't want them, which is why he wasn't a top pick. Hughes was the other real option, but I don't know if they didn't make up for that later with those two Gator linebackers.
