Wow this went from kidney stones to abdominal tear?

Hermida should be getting the chance to prove himself. I think you give him the playing time and see what happens in the next 6 weeks.

He stinks. Marlin trash.

Hermida is a bench player, a journeyman OFer, he's not starting lineup quality. He's already had the chance to prove himself over his entire career and he's proved his worth is in coming off the bench.

It's not a plus that he provides because he's quality depth at the CF position. But yesterday, I was watching the game with my father and my grandfather, celebrating his 90th birthday, and we all agreed that bringing up Reddick might be good for this team. Hall just doesn't cut it as an everyday player. And when a team is struggling like this, it can't hurt to add some fresh, young players.

I'm just saying I think they would probably give him a shot before going and getting Dye or something like that.

This a the best news so far. Now they need Ells back.

How is having Cameron injured good news? If Ellsbury gets placed on DL we could have an outfield of Hermida-Hall-Drew.

Do you have any link updating Ellsbury's situation?

This is latest update, from yesterday:

Jacoby Ellsbury (ribs) was held out of the Red Sox' lineup for a seventh consecutive game Monday.

Ellsbury bruised his rib cage during a collision with third baseman Adrian Beltre last week and could be out for several more days. "We're going to try to push here the next couple of days to see how he's doing," Red Sox manager Terry Francona said Monday. If he shows little progress, a short stint on the disabled list may be for the best.

Age not a factor for Cameron

Posted by Peter Abraham, Globe Staff April 20, 2010 02:37 PM

Mike Cameron is on the disabled list with a sports hernia and the immediate reaction in some quarters will be to point out that is this what happens when you sign a 37-year-old outfielder.

If only that were true.

Rangers star Josh Hamilton had the same injury last season at at the age of 28. Texas second baseman Ian Kinsler had the injury in 2006 when he was 26. Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb, Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey, Alabama receiver Julio Jones ... the list goes on and on. It has nothing to do with age.

Beyond that no Red Sox player is in better shape than Cameron outside of Jacoby Ellsbury. That's not speculation, that's what the preseason condition tests revealed.

That he has a sports hernia goes a long way in explaining why Cameron has looked so out of sorts in center field this season. The injury is a lingering one and Cameron could be out for a while.

Josh Reddick will probably play center field tonight. But it would make sense to put Ellsbury back there once he returns and to use Reddick and Jeremy Hermida in left field

Cameron is TRASH, period! Ells will be back and even if he goes on the DL, the OF would be Harmida-Reddick-Drew.

Thanks for the link JayBay.

No problem.

Cameron is trash, but Hermida, who is a horrible fielder and currently has a .242 OBP this year isn't trash?

Reddick and Hall will split starts if Ellsbury goes on DL, especially if there is a lefty starting, we will being seeing Hall a lot.

If Ells goes down, we might see Nava up. He's not off to the best start this year, but he was great last year for Portland and is a good switch hitter with high contact rates in the minors.

It is not good at all, but I am hoping Ells is fine and Reddick is in LF. The bottom line is, the Sox are not a good team right now.. Drew, Hall and Cameron have all been sucking it up. Lets hope Reddick comes up and plays like the spring.

The Sox will take just about anything right about now.

I don't know much about him at all, but if he is MLB ready, might as well see what he can do instead of using guys like Hall.

Cameron hasn't been that bad, he had a decent .360 OBP, but has been injured for most of the season.

While Hall sucks and Drew is struggling, once Drew gets going, Ellsbury gets healthy and Youk and V-mart get going, the lineup will be fine. I'm not really worried about anyone except for Ortiz, you don't know if he is done or if he is just having a slow start.

Drew is usually a slow starter himself and he'll eventually get hot, so I'm not worried about him. Right now, Sox just need to get out of there slump and try to get healthy. This team is a lot better then they've showed thus far.

Knee-jerk. Wait until you see what the guy can do healthy before calling him "TRASH" over a handful of games.
