Dipre, I have already said that the sox should win 90 games, which would automatically make the assumption that this small sample size is just that.

I just find it odd that a focus on pitching and defense would entail having one of the worst catchers in the bigs and an average to below average SS. You build defense up the middle, and as nice as it seems to have a good defensive 3b and 1b, it doesnt matter as much as having a good catcher or SS.

Also, this lineup will eventually hit, unless these slumps are a sign of aging for guys like Papi and Drew. Something I doubt. BUT, you take a team that was filled with high OBP guys and 2 bashers in the middle, to a team with less high OBP guys and one basher in the middle, you have to be wary. Some teams can get by when 4-5 players are slumping. The sox cannot. They have now lost their margin for error on offense. Meaning that a slump, or a bad yr by a player would take them from above average to below average offensively. The sox from 2004-2008 were so good that only two guys were irreplaceable and anyone else would take them from elite to good. That is no longer the case.

Regardless, I think this is one of Theo's transition years, and he sold it to the masses as "pitching and defense." My guess is that he plans on having the big 3 plus Youkilis, Pedroia and offensive juggernaut FA X take this team into the future. The problem was, he didnt like what was out there this past offseason.

Name me one team that can get by with 4-5 players slumping.

One thing i agree with in this post is that this SSS is exactly that.

Two very simple questions, met with a complete dodge by Counselor Dipre.

"In your view, is it possible that Theo has mismanaged this roster?

And if the answer is yes, what date would you say is reasonable to draw that conclusion?"

Why am I not surprised?

Let me explain something to you. You seem to lack the knowledge of the definition of the concept Small Sample Size. Its a dumb, loaded question which youre trying to make to prove a point that doesnt exist. Seriously, chill the f*** out.

Let me explain something to you. It is a simple question. If the answer is no, we have nothing to talk about. If it is yes, what date makes sense to declare Theo's management of the roster a failure for this season?

Lol, its like arguing with my 13-year old cousin. Feel free to declare victory and lets revisit this around the ASB. I wont forget.

You get twisted into a pretzel by your 13 year old cousin?

Nope. He asks dumb questions and has lots and lots of immature reactions. Sort of like knee-jerk reactions, AKA your specialty.

I thought that Rhet's specialty was ridiculously bad fantasy baseball offers.

And vetoing other peoples trades just to be a dick. Hes a multi-talented guy.

My question was simple.

"In your view, is it possible that Theo has mismanaged this roster?

And if the answer is yes, what date would you say is reasonable to draw that conclusion?"

It wasn't immature, knee-jerk or dumb. Just a question to see if you are capable of realistically evaluating the management of the team without a kneejerk defense of the GM.

I only voted against one trade. Once.

And it wasn't just to be a dick.

I have voted in favor of every other trade posted.

Notice the situation: Youre asking the question in the middle of April during a time when the time is in a massive slump. Its just another intellectually dishonest attempt at fortifying your "stance". Again, feel free to declare victory, and lets revisit the question during the ASB.

The question is not what I believe, it's about what YOU believe. The fact that you won't even answer it tells me we have nothing to talk about.

See ya around July.

I love it. Dipre spends all offseason defending Theo and the run prevention theory and when the team goes through a little struggle he backs off and won't defend the moves Theo made anymore. Real funny

Yeah, that whole Bay situation was pretty strange. Letting that guy go because they looked in a crystal ball and saw a knee injury 3 years out. And then signing a guy 36 or 37 years old. Hey, you get what you pay for. Cameron is going to show his age sooner or later. Maybe it's time for Ellsbury to move back to CF.

Lots of early injuries on this team, which makes you wonder about their conditioning in Florida.

Posted
Soxsport, as much as I love to bag on the sox, the "injuries" have nothing to do with their conditioning. Ellsbury got kneed in the ribs and Cameron suffered a kidney stone. No way to prepare for that

Teixeira' date=' ARod, Swisher, and Johnson[/quote']

Couple points though. Teixeira is really struggling, but Swisher was decent for the first couple series, Johnson is getting on base at a very high clip, and A-Rod (without his power) has been decent.

On top of that, they've really been carried by the SP in the first couple weeks, which can happen to a variety of teams.

Both Johnsonn and Swisher are getting on base. When you talk about a slump, talk to me about Drew and Ortiz and their OBP's barely above bench-level trademark.

Ellsbury. Get rid of this Cameron guy. He's not even half decent. Another bad signing by Theo. I knew the guy would not perform even before the first game he played. Ellsbury is far better at CF. In fact, start Hermida in LF. At least he is younger and can have some upside in his prime career.

So, you'd rather have a guy who hit .250 start in center field? I'd rather have Coco Crisp on this team before that joke Cameron.
