Every time I log on a thread is hating on JD Drew and almost none of it is sarcasm. Why do people hate him so much? He has been pretty healthy with Boston, I forget the poster but someone mentioned he missed most his games last year due to platooning with Baldelli because Francona thinks he cant hit lefties although he has a career average of .271 vs lefties.

Drew has been solid, stop looking at homers and RBI's for EVERYTHING. Pedroia only had 15 homers and 72 RBI last year, he sucks. :(

Drew gets on base at an elite rate, his worst OBP with Boston was .373. He had during year one, which is the year he struggled, yet still obtained a solid OBP. walking equals scoring runs, Drew has scored 84 runs in 2 years with Boston which is huge, getting on base weather it be a walk or a single, it makes the pitcher work.

Stop the Drew Hate and ignore his contract which isn't even that bad, Drew has been a great fielder in Boston, has gotten on base a ton and at times has carried this team.

You know Jason Bay? He isn't lighting it up at the moment either hitting .222. Oh and Mark Teixeira is hitting .100 with no homers.

Its april 17th, stop hating on Drew, stop saying he should be traded or benched, when he gets hot, you all will be eating crow.

I also love how Drew is singled out when he struggles, why isn't Mike Cameron being hated on, he is hitting .222, oh and what about Youk and Vmart each hitting .244. GET OFF DREWS DICK and learn to appreciate how lucky we are to have a solid right fielder like Drew.

(Note: I am not picking on Cameron, Youk or Vmart, just pointing out that Drew is only player struggling).

Nobody would ever trade for JD Drew right now. Not with this contract. Drew has been streaky while in Boston, so I'm not worried.

I think Drew will eventually come around, as he has done throughout his entire tenure in Boston, but right now his struggles at the plate are really hurting the Sox. He's not even working the count like he usually does... watching strikes and swinging at balls. He's pressing and it's showing in a bad way.

That said, there's no reason for the Sox to contemplate doing anything with him right now. Get him in a rhythm and calm him down a bit, and he'll be just fine.

JD will have his one hot month then go back to being adverage....not the 14 mil player he was brought in to be. He in not the kind of player that Boston fans like. We like the Justin P. and Kevin Youks" of the baseball world. He would be better in LA or another National league team. I don't think he is a bad ball player....but he doens't care and it shows. That's what the Boston fans don't like.

Saying a player doesn't care when you don't personally know him or his feelings about the game is pure conjecture.

As is nearly everything that's posted on this board.

Except those statistics are usually trumped by other statistics and the conjecture is which are the more relevant statistics.

Nope. There are people who argue about the usefulness of Stat A vs Stat B, but in reality some statistics are clearly better indicators of performance than others. People argue them just for the sake of either arguing or sparking discussion. Example: OPS>>>>>BA>>>>RBI.

and then there are the people that argue about people choosing one stat over the other and that only certain people can do that - it's all conjecture.

This discussion will get us nowhere. There are certain statistics that are clearly better than others when determining a player's performance. Those are the types of statistics modern FO's use when determining whether or not to acquire a player for their team. Writers use them, GM's use them, etc etc etc. It is what it is.

You know what's conjecture, the use of conjecture on this board. For instance, Dipre really meant "speculation" when he used conjecture, and YeAuld's usage would probably find a better fit with "debate".

Conjecture is something that appears to be correct but is unproven. Any attempt to determine Drew's level of care is speculation, and some measures of player performance are confirmed, through statistical analysis, to be more relevant to the overall objective of the game, ie scoring and preventing runs.

In this case, i believe my use of the word would be correct because from "WATCHING THE GAMEZZZ!!!!" it would, in fact, seem that JD Drew is disconnected to the game and doesn't care about the team, winning, and 'Tuff and Grit!!1111" when in reality (speculation alert) he's just a laid back guy that doesn't like the attention.

I disagree with your debating my conjecture and I speculate on your motives.

I guess you guys aren't getting that I think this entire conversation is a little goofy and aren't really being serious.

"when in reality (speculation alert) he's just a laid back guy that doesn't like the attention."

And you have nothing more to back that up than Warren's "he doesn't care".

I do not concur' date=' and i find your conjecture in this discussion to be shallow and pedantic.[/quote']

And I think you're taking this way too seriously and I find that a little sad, especially since I do really like you.

It's a joke reference. I forgot you're a bit old-timey.

Yes I'm sure I'm old enough to be your great-grandmother.

No you're not. My mom maybe, but not granny. It's a Family Guy reference by the way, there's this episode where Peter Griffin becomes a genius.....and.....i'll shut up now.

I watch South Park. I'm 46' date=' relax.[/quote']

I meant Family Guy actually, but yeah, i'm sure you either watch that too or you hate it and are part of the universal "FG vs SP" debate. I just watch and enjoy them both.

I don't like Family Guy but I don't have any passionate feelings about it one way or the other. I appreciate it's satirical humor. I like South Park but I don't want to marry it. I really don't get all revved up over anything in Pop Culture, none of it really matters that much.

OMG...this is not a law office. I stated my opinion as a fan. I don't claim to be a GM and have all the answers about each player. I just commented that JD would be better off playing in NL or a team that the fan base doesn't really care. No, I don't know him...but I am a die hard New England fan. Been watching sports in this town since I was a little kid. Fans want their players to bust their asses. He is NOT a $14 mil player....no matter how your wash it.

That's the point. If it's just an opinion, claim as such. You stated opinion as fact. Not only that, none of our fan opinions are enough to assign monetary values to baseball players. You're also speculating once again that he doesn't bust his ass. How do you know that?
