Bob Davidson on his awful call in yesterday's Phillies / Marlins game....

 

I was right on top of it and it was wide of the bag, that's all. I had it foul. In my opinion, where it goes over the bag, you can't tell. After a bounce, it came an inch or two on the fair side, but ... it was very close. But I'm right there. I know what I saw.....I understand that's the winning run, but in my opinion it was foul and there's no replay that you can really see what the ball does over the bag -- that's what's important.

 

The replay is clear. The ball hits fair territory before the bag, bounces over the bag, and hits fair territory beyond the bag. It's also clear that Davidson does not turn to see the bounce beyond the bag, and begins making his call with the ball in the air over the bag.

 

Dude should get fired for this level of incompetence. Joyce owned up to his mistake. Davidson sees nothing wrong with what he did. He gone.

We pounded Papelbon for yesterday's game against Toronto and deservedly so, but did anyone see what the Phillies did to Broxton last night. It was brutal. It happens to the best of them. I wouldn't throw Broxton out with the garbage just yet.

i said this before when the rangers acquired cliff lee, but i think they're the best team in baseball. they're 5th in the majors in runs and hamilton didn't do anything the first 2 months of the year. and their rotation is ridiculous
