I see' date=' pulling out the race card. Great. Just because I used Dominican as an adjective describing you. Keep feeling like the victim here.[/quote']

Lol.

Half the board saw it as a racial slur (Because it was, and what the f*** does me being Dominican has to do with anything, but you mention it every chance you get?) seriously, stop to think for just three seconds before you post. Three seconds.

I appreciate the compliment' date=' however, to an extent, I disagree. Jacko comes off as a homer, without a doubt, but so do a ton of people on this forum, and they don't have nearly the reputation that Jacko has. Thing is, he posts a lot here, and all his posts get responded to in the same matter (regardless of their content), so it really takes us away from just being able to talk about baseball.[/quote']

Well in my posts, Red Sox homers get the same treatment as any/all Yankee homers, so from my part, i have some peace of mind.

Exactly. I have been here for 4 yrs now and I havent changed my posting style at all since my initial run-in with the talksox law. Unfortunately, some have the thinnest of skin and are unable to bring up good, logical ideas without throwing everyone under the bus.

And I find it funny, there is always one person in the middle of every fight on this forum, even amongst the sox fans. I wonder if its time for him to have a vacation?

4 years where people have hated you, they hated you as bbdoc, they hated you as The Riv, and they hate you now. wonder why?

If Dipre is a Dominican short bus rider, should we at least call him out on riding the imposter bus and not a real bus?

John Lackey's spring has nothing on you. Aces.

I know. John Lackey is such a slacker anyway.

He walked a batter today.

You, however, threw 7 IP of 2 Hit, no walk, 0 ER ball the other night. After all, Betty White is your trainer right?

However, Jacko, even if you make a good point, if it's laced with a personal insult, that's all anyone's focus is going to be on. We are all here (maybe with the exception of a few) to talk baseball. Lets do that, and drop the insults.

And to everyone responding to Jacko, respond to the post, not the poster. Sure Jacko has said some crazy things on here, but so has everyone. It's pretty annoying that every time he makes a point, people rarely respond to it with legitimate discussion, but, instead, they tend to go after Jacko and claim he is just being biased. I can understand his frustration.

Now, I apologize for getting involved, but I felt compelled to speak my mind on this issue. There's just way too much of this crap on the forum, and every thread seems to fall victim to it. Also, I realize that this isn't necessarily the appropriate place to vent these feelings, but this was where the specific actions I'm referring to occurred, and I wanted everyone to see this. Now, in an effort not to drive this thread off course, if you have a specific problem with what I wrote, or just want to discuss it more in-depth, I'd request that you PM me.

I quoted this because I think everyone should read it again.

Lets just talk baseball and chill with the constant jabs. It gets old.

... he says, as if the contract was in any way rejected. They're still hammering things out smart guy, let's wait until we see the final version before we try to wax analytical about what the breaking points for each party are.

Maybe he'll apologize for his terrible outing?

It'll be four years and $68 million. Press conference will be this afternoon at Fenway Park as many predicted.

Back with more in a little bit.

That is a really good deal. He could have gotten nearly half that again on the open market with a good year this year.

Its a lot of money' date=' but the years should be the issue. I highly doubt Beckett signs this[/quote']

The details on Beckett's deal

Posted by Peter Abraham, Globe Staff April 5, 2010 02:49 PM

The Josh Beckett press conference is about to begin at Fenway Park. A few details on his deal:

Beckett gets a $5 million signing bonus and yearly salaries of $15.75 million. The deal was agreed to a few days ago but by waiting until after Opening Day, the Sox will not be taxed by MLB on the signing bonus.

The deal averages out to $17 million a year, better than the $16.5 million new teammate John Lackey will average over course of his five-year contract. That distinction was important for Beckett and agent Mike Moye.

Beckett also has limited no-trade protection until be becomes a 10/5 player.

Stay here for comments from Beckett once the press conference starts.

His comment pretty much guaranteed the deal would happen.

Que Jacko and his comments about how bad Beckett's shoulder is and how this deal is destined to ruin the Red Sox forever...

Beckett deal official

Posted by Peter Abraham, Globe Staff April 5, 2010 02:49 PM

To hear Josh Beckett tell it, the decision to sign a four-year with the Red Sox came down to one simple fact:

There is no other place he'd rather be.

"This is a very special place," said Beckett this afternoon during a 3 p.m. press conference at Fenway during which his $68 million extension through 2014 was announced. "Anyone who has had a chance to play here knows that. And anyone who hasn't had a chance to play here probably know that through other people that have.

"This organization does everything it can to make our jobs as easy as possible. The people I've talked to, there aren't a whole lot of other organizations out there that do that. Work in between starts, roundtable things, I could go on here, but they make for a very ideal situation for a baseball player. It's really a good place to play."

Can someone go by Jacko'a house and see if he is still breathing? I hope he didn't get the news while he was on the job. The bed pan aftermath might be epic(;)).
