Best. Game. Ever.

Swing and a LONG DRIVE TO LEFT!

WAY BACK!

DEEP INTO THE NIGHT!!!

My favorite part, as soon as Mike Napoli saw how hard he hit that ball, he didn't even wait to watch it go, he just turned around and walked slowly to the dugout.

have to agree this is right up there as one of my favorite moments. but my overall favorite moment was when we finally won the WS in '04

For me it was the 2004 World Series win.....a little obvious, but that moment melted all the bad that went before......as I was watching them pile on top of each other I got a call from my ex-husband, he was watching too and said "you were the first person I thought of to call" we went through alot of heart-breaking Red Sox Baseball together.

$14M grand slam

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Great! Now we'll have the usual two day defense of Drew as God with endless OBP, OPS, WAR, and quotes from Theo.

Another thread shot to hell.

Whattever you think of Drew' date=' that homer was freaking huge.[/quote']

Not to mention how hot Carmona was at the time.

The Sox killed Fausto twice. Papi did it' date=' JD did it.[/quote']

Hell, even Mark Loretta killed Fausto, but that was back when he was a reliever. And a bad one at that. I think he blew 2 consecutive games in consecutive days vs. Boston.

I think that Loretta's winner was more evidence that he was already dead rather than a "kill." Course it was a few years ago now and it's a season I usually prefer to forget.

I thought we were talking about the 2007 playoffs. No idea how Ortiz' blast against him entered the conversation......

It's somewhere upthread.

Anywho, one of the funnier moments of the 2007 playoffs -- remember that "homer" Manny hit at Jacobs Field, I think it was Game 5, where it bounced off the top of the wall and back into the field of play, only Manny stood there and posed and went into his trot and was lucky to get first base?

Most memorable to me was Teddy Ballgame homering in his last at bat. Made the front page of the Los Angeles Times' sports page. Nearly 50 years later, that edition is still hanging on my den wall.

I've been pondering an answer for this thread for several days.

I guess If I had to give a conventional answer it would be Fisk's HR. That was really dramatic and I recall exactly where I was that night.

Having attended about 200 games at Fenway and having watched thousands of other games in the last 44 years, I have some other memories as well.

The Sox had a utility player named Carmen Fanzone that spent 7-8 years toiling in the minors. They called him up in 1970 (I think). In his first at bat in the majors, he got beaned! Imagine that. He never really amounted to much and went on to a non-stellar 4 year career with the Cubs.

In the fall of 2004 I was at the Wang Center in Boston for a performance of the Kirov Ballet. During an intermission, I went outside to the street to have a smoke. I heard a muted roar coming from across the street. There was a bar there. I could see people jumping up and yelling (there was a big window).

I crossed the street and looked in the window. Everyone was excited because the Sox were making a comeback against the Angels. I stood there with a well dressed middle aged woman smoking and watched as Ortiz hit a game winning home run. We looked at each other with "Holy s***" expressions.

We high fived and went back to the ballet.

The Sox went on to take the series and eventually the world championship.

1999 Game 5 ALDS.... Pedro comes out of the pen and goes 6 no hit innings to wrap up the series. That was a great game. O'Leary hit the grand slam. I'd say the 1999 team was my favorite Sox team ever for some reason. Some other moments I wasn't alive for that have to be up there is Fisk's game 6 home run of the 75 Series or Williams hitting a HR in his last at bat. Also, trading Heathcliff Slocumb for Lowe and Varitek ranks up there too haha
