I'd be interested as Spring goes on, about any more Felix Doubront sightings. He did fairly well today and he may be a dark horse for the last spot in the pen. Certainly I expect him to serve in Boston at some point this year, as an injury replacement if nothing else.

The Kid appears to have the stuff. He gets lost in the shuffle, so to speak. I think he could be another Masterson type. We'll see.

Kid's 22 and he's a good bet to start in AAA. He's not one of those 85 MPH slop tossers and he has a good K rate in the minors. There's at least 5 teams in this league where he'd be competing as at least a longshot for a rotation spot this year. The only reason we haven't lost him to the Rule V draft was the FO was smart enough to add him to the 40-man at age 20.

If he doesn't have a place on the team, he'd be a good makeweight in a trade.

Tomorrow's game is on the MLB station. Who is pitching?

I sure wish I could answer that for you. Just keep an eye on Boston.com and you'll know at some point.

MLB station?

I'll assume you mean the MLB station that I now get on Comcast. I hope I see the Sox. The past two days I had to watch the Yankees. I'm so starved for baseball, I've watched it! It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the obnoxious YES announcers. Christ, are they bad.

Give me anyone other than those pukes. Even Fox!

Yes, it should be the station that you get on Comcast.

Wait MLB station? Is it on everywhere or just in Boston?

The MLB Network is available everywhere depending on your cable/sat provider. It's like the NFL Network, NHL Network, Golf Channel and Tennis Channel.

a700 they announced earlier in the week that Buchholz is pitching today.

Oh, I guess the game is blacked out here or something because they are showing some random highlights.

Scenario: You are locked in a room with Michael Kay (Yankees TV gasbag) and John Sterling (Yankees radio douchebag). You have pistol, but only one round.

Question: Who do you shoot?

Answer: Yourself.

And if I had 2 rounds, I'd shoot Michael Kay twice to make sure he's dead.

Gasbag. That about sums it up. It was painful.

Mark Wagner has some pop-- a hard double and a HR today.

He certainly has some potential. He's well above average defensively at most aspect of the game, including THROWING RUNNERS OUT (which none of our major league catchers can do). And last year he hit .301/.410/.477 in Portland before struggling in his first AAA stint.

Bonser throwing 91-93 with good movement.

Did you see Casey Kelly pitch at all? I was working but I'm looking forward to seeing if it'll be up on MLB.tv tomorrow.

He threw okay. He was hitting 93 at times. It was not reminiscent of seeing Clemens in his first spring.

How did his curve look? That's supposedly his best pitch.

Wagner probably replaces Varitek next year as our backup, especially if he has a good year in Pawtucket. With Brown, Wagner and potentially Expo all in range by the end of this year and our starter probably either V-Mart of Mauer I just can't see Theo looking for a veteran backup. If V-Mart's the starter,Wagner's skillset works for a backup role, and it means Wags gets playing time since V-Mart won't catch 150 games..

I got a phone call during his outing, and was distracted. I don't remember his curve. I just noticed that he didn't seem particularly overpowering. He pitched well, but there wasn't anything eye-opening about it.
