I'm calling it the first spring training game. Tomorrow 1:05 against Northeastern.

Casey Kelley will pitch the first game and Boof Bonser will be going second against BC.

I'm predicting 14-2 in game 1 and 9-3 in game 2. Completely arbitrarily, but I'm predicting it.

It must be really exciting for college players to play these games. I know I'd get a little extra geared up for them.

It must be mega intimidating to stare this guy down at the plate;

I wonder where that guy who got the leadoff HR against Daisuke wound up?

Anyone remember that? Was his name Ayers?

Speaking of Youk' date=' has there ever been a bench-clearing brawl in the history of Spring Training?[/quote']

I was at a Spring Training game when Julian Tavares was covering home and punched the runner that slid into the plate for sliding hard. Don't think the benches cleared though.

Casey Kelly pitched a scoreless first with 2 strikeouts and a ground out and is now done for the day. I wish it was televised, I still haven't seen him pitch.

I doubt this game would get put on ESPN.

It's not televised anywhere that I know of. A few ST games are on my XM Radio but not this game.

It's the first spring training game of the year. Come on, lighten up! You can go back to your sarcastic self when we play BU ;)

Big Papi just hit the first home run of the spring...

:ortiz:

Key word, "spring."

Now let’s hope he can do this all year long. They are going to need him more than ever this year.

Relax, no one said it had any significance. It's the first day of spring training games, enjoy it!

It does so that he has well enough command to have thrown 70% strikes. (7-3). I can't wait to see him pitch against some minor league and major league talent.

1-0 Sox after one.

It must be really exciting for the B.C. kids. So much so that two outfielders bobbled routine plays.

Bowden starts the second.

Not a lot is happening.

1-0 after two. Kalish made a nice snag going to his left.

B.C. turned a very nice 4-6-3 dp. That was cool.

One of the announcers just said that Magadan said Ortiz is in the same shape mentally and physically that he was at the end of the last year. If he could hit .260/.350/.515 with 30+ home runs and 100+ RBI we'll be in good shape.

Iglesias seems pretty good already.

I think the questions surrounding his bat are overblown. He can hit, he just can't hit for much power (which isn't a bid deal for a SS). The guy hit .322 in the highest level of the Cuban leagues at age 18 last year.

EDIT: His full line was .322/.356/.430 and the level of play in that league is supposedly on par with AA.
