Big Ben is in trouble in Georgia.

Some skank is accusing him of sexual assault. No charges filed as yet.

Sounds fishy to me.

Ben accused of rape AGAIN? Jesus.

Anyway Giants signed Antrel Rolle, he should definitely help them. CC Brown sucks

I find Antrel Rolle to be immensely overrated though. He's really not nearly as good as many hyped him up to be, the teams who wanted him so badly, like Dolphins fans.

Oh, I agree. I was just stating he is an upgrade, he definitely doesn't deserve to be the highest paid safety in the NFL though.

Jaguars sign DE Aaron Kampman from the Packers. That should help the league's worst pass rush. Although we missed out on Vanden Bosch, at least he's still out of the division/conference and we got a good player regardless.

Per Adam Schefter:

Julius Peppers' contract: 2010 -- $20m; 2011 -- $11.5m; 2012 -- $9m; 2013 -- $13m; 2014 -- $14m; 2015 -- $16.5m. First 3 yrs guaranteed.

I'm sure the pats were no where near this deal

Steelers re-sign Ryan Clark and also sign Arnaz Battle and Antwaan Randle El. Special teams are going to be upgraded a lot thankfully by the last two signings.

I'm lol'ing at the Bears. It will be hilarious when they miss the playoffs again next year.

If Favre retires, you can stick a fork in the Vikings and the Packers are the clear favorites, but the Bears have closed the gap. Peppers was overpaid, but he is an elite pass rusher and should be productive for a few more seasons. And while Chester Taylor isn't the greatest RB in the world, he's an upgrade over Forte and should take some pressure off Cutler.

There are still a lot of issues to address, namely the offensive line, free safety, and the secondary. The receiving corps isn't that strong either, but Devin Aromashodu emerged late in the season. And Knox and Bennett are young and full of promise. Say what you want about Mike Martz, but Ron Turner was boring and predictable. So far, the biggest concern with Martz is will he utilize Greg Olsen, and if not, should Olsen be traded?

Or maybe just cancel out the pressure on Cutler created by Martz putting Greg Olsen on full time blocking duty.

Peppers should be productive. 30 is the magic age. He could fall apart at any time.

Turner is boring and predictable, Martz is fun, wacky, and spontaneous. Yippee. At the end of the day, the offenses will be pretty equal in terms of production. The Bears' lack of an offensive line and go-to wideout only hurts them more in the Martz schemes.

The browns are interested in Jake Delhomme and justin fargas.

Browns trying to trade Quinn. Rumors are that St.Louis want him for Bulger.

Leave the division with the browns, steelers, ravens, and bengals alone!! I will do all the reporting for that division.

Two reasons (among many) that the Browns continue to suck.

Why? There is nothing to report. Steelers will win division, Browns will finish last.

Just like the Steelers won it this year, eh?

Haha, funny. But in all seriousness. If Steelers can get even an average CB they will be in contention for the AFC north title, almost any CB is an upgrade over William Gay.

When Polamalu is healthy, Steelers have a great defense and they displayed last year they have a great offense, especially passing wise.

However, the Ravens offense really scares me. They have a great RB, two good WR's and Flacco is an above average QB and only getting better, it wouldn't surprise me if they won the division.

Pittsburgh's O-Line is a bigger weakness than their corners.

Flacco is obviously going to get better but he's being overrated a lot lately.

The O-line isn't as bad as people make it out to be, a lot of the sacks are Roethlisbergers fault. He holds on to the ball way too long and tries to make a play when nothing is there. However, this is also the reason he is so good, he makes plays no other QB can make, but he also takes more sacks then any other QB.

Edit: Yeah Flacco is overrated because his rookie year, but he should still benefit from Boldin.

He did shred his knee midway through last season and he wasn't a fit in the 3-4. Not too upset to see the guy go, although he was a good player for them.

I'm also with J_E, Peppers and Taylor don't solve the real problems, the Oline and the secondary. Will be fun to see another 20 INT season from Cutler.

The wheels seem to be falling off on Big Ben:

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/03/11/long-time-pittsburgh-sportscaster-unloads-on-big-ben/

As we've mentioned a time or two this week, the tide of public opinion in Pittsburgh has turned dramatically against Ben Roethlisberger in the wake of a second allegation of sexual assault.

Local talk radio has featured plenty of anecdotal evidence regarding generally boorish behavior from Big Ben (we've heard a couple of stories that we possibly will be posting, once they are vetted by the PFT legal team -- i.e., me), and his defenders are becoming fewer and farther between.

Perhaps most jarring is the maiden blog voyage of long-time, old-school Pittsburgh sportscaster John Steigerwald, who spent more than two decades on KDKA-TV, who has hosted radio in the Pittsburgh area, and who currently appears on a weekly Sunday night show on WTAE-TV.

Here's what Steigerwald says about Roethlisberger: "First of all, none of this surprises me. Ben is a bad citizen. He doesn't know how to treat people and he definitely doesn't know how to handle being the quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers. In my more than 30 years of working in the Pittsburgh sports media, I have never had any player come close to generating as many unsolicited questions from fans as Roethlisberger has. They want to know why he's such a jackass. And these aren't just Steelers fans who got turned down for an autograph. It's men and women from all walks of life."

Steigerwald specifically points to a Make-A-Wish child that Roethlisberger allegedly blew off. Per Steigerwald, KDKA opted not to pursue the matter as a news story. Steigerwald later spoke to the parents, who did not want to go public on behalf of their daughter, who had cystic fibrosis.

Steigerwald's verdict? "Roethlisberger is a punk who needs to be knocked down a peg or two."

As a general matter, Pittsburgh-area sportscasters tread lightly when it comes to the Steelers, if they value access and cooperation from the organization. Steigerwald's atypical candor is a sign that, when it comes to Big Ben, the local journalists have either gotten a nod from the team to take off the gloves, or they just don't care.

It's not just the sacks. It's also the run blocking.

Among the 32 teams in the NFL, their offense ranked #26 in run blocking and #17 in pass blocking. They have Willie Colon and that's about it. You can't just look at sack stats, there others out there such as QB pressures ect.

.. Source: Welker had rotator cuff surgery

Wes Welker's got more than just a knee injury to rehabilitate from.

Welker also has a torn rotator cuff, an NFL source confirmed to the Globe tonight. Welker has already had surgery to repair the injured shoulder, the source said.

News of the injury first surfaced at the Big Rips blog, and author Seth Davis contacted Boston-area media outlets with the information.

Welker's recovery timetable is unknown, though it certainly complicates his return from the reconstructive knee surgery he underwent in February.

But the offense was still perfectly fine with that O-line. The Steelers barely even ran the ball, they were 18th in attempts among 32 teams and still had a 1000+ yard rusher. The O-line isn't the best, but it isn't terrible. The Steelers also had a few games where Kemoeatu didn't play and that hurt them a lot too.
