This is my first post here......What is the board's opinion on the possibility of drafting Georgia's ace Justin Grimm if he is available when our selection comes up? I know we drafted him in the 13th round three years ago, but his draft stock has soared through the roof and he will most likely be chosen in the first round. I was just wondering because I went to High School with him. Thanks in advance.

I haven't heard much about him -- I tend not to pay much attention to prospects until after we draft them.

What's he got for stuff? Righty or lefty, etc?"

Imperial, it never seems to go that way, though. A college pitcher has less to bargain with than a high school player, so if everything stays the same in the rankings, I bet the college guys get taken a bit above where they are ranked and the HS guys get taken a bit below for signability concerns.

BTW, there is a small rumor that Bryce Harper may fall down the draft boards due to significant signability concerns. That pick at #20 could be very, very good.

If Bryce Harper falls to #20 (doubtful) the Sox would be all over him like Pujols on a straight fastball.

Even if he plans on playing in college he may STILL go in the first round, if some team thinks they can convince him otherwise. Worst case scenario for them is the same pick next year, so not a lotta downside there.

It's embarrassing to have your #1 say forget you but in the end all you lose is a year of playing time on a single prospect. So if you can land a Harper in the first round and think you can throw money and fame at him until he says yes, little reason not to go for it.
