He's like "yeah thats right' date=' they could end up giving this guy right here, close to $20 million"[/quote']

Hahahahaha damn straight he is!

Fielding percent and error amount is the absolutely worst way to rate a fielder's performance.

1.0 UZR/150, 4.3 RF/G. Right around league average. Not even top 5.

I don't know Dipre...I think pretty much every fielding metric sucks. I mean come on...UZR rated Tex as a terrible fielder...and gave Gutierrez such a tremendous UZR, it's not all accurate either. Gutierrez is a great fielder, yes...but no OF can save THAT many runs.

I don't know, dude. Seriously. Fielding metrics, in my opinion, are not as good as the naked eye in my opinion. The stats just haven't developed as well, or as much, like offensive and pitching statistics. Again...my opinion.

In a SS's case, they are much more accurate than a 1B's case, and i also take into consideration (As i have stated many times before) what my eyes see when rating a fielder. I've seen Scutaro play SS a decent amount of times and he's not in the league of a Rollins, a Hardy, a Gonzales, an Andrus or an Erick Aybar, just to name a few.

And let's be honest, any metric is better than Fld% or errors.

Such is life.

Scutaro had a 1.20 BB/K ratio last year, ranking him 6th overall, behind only Pujols, Pedroia, Y. Molina, Helton and Mauer.

I don't think it's a tremendous signing, but I feel like it might be an under the radar good signing, especially given a pretty low price. Scutaro wanted to play for Boston and took less money to play there.

He's probably worth what he'll make even with a career average year; if he plays like he did in 2009 he'll be a great signing. This is the most Bill Mueller-ish move in a few years IMO.

Think he eats at the Kowloon?

Somebody send him a double chicken parm and see if he calls Nomar a pussy.

Seems how we tend to give RH hitters the benefit of the doubt, would it be that far of a stretch to think Scutaro could take the same advantages? I mean he plays half his game at Fenway now, and will probably hit 9th(no pressure), in a lineup that can offer him protection(if the Sox manage to add a LF of course).

I don't think it's that hard to believe he could put up a .270/.360./.410ish line, which would be really nice out of the 9 spot. He'll be good for 10-15 HR and 30+ 2B. If he can manage that and play average defense it's a win for the Sox.

If he put's a up a .250/.330/.380 with league average D he will be tolerable. I mean it is only 5.5M a season. That really isn't much at all.

The A's offered Marco Scutaro three years and slightly more money than the Red Sox, according to Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi of FoxSports.com.

Not surprising he turned down a reunion with Oakland. Having a chance to win seems to be worth something to him. But really who would actually want to sign with Oakland if you had any other choice?

Posted
What exactly does he have to do at the plate this year to appease everyone's distaste fro him?

I don't have a distaste for Scutaro but I'll be happy with .270 avg and a .350 obp with average defense. The thing I like about Scutaro is that he takes a ton of pitches and he doesn't strike out much.

I agree with W.B.

If he can achieve his career averages, plays D as well as he did in Toronto, and stays healthy,

I won't bitch.

Scutaro was not my pick for the Sox SS in 2010. But I have accepted the deal and am looking forward to seeing him contribute.

And that's why you're still looking for your first win.

2009 World Champions.

Keep it going dude.

Your first win in an argument....duh.

Apparently you can't read.

Unlike you, I don't need to have someone ball-wash me and stick to my team's forums for a little mental masturbation. I like to go to the heart of the enemy and stick a knife in it.

Was that good enough for you?

The day you agree with me, is the day I know I've lost it. Funny how you changed your tune real quick on the forum as opposed to IMs. Go away...go beat your girl and wear too much cologne, or whatever you do.

Who here has seen enough of Marco Scutaro to have a worthwhile opinion about his defense?

That is why you look for help in defensive statistics so you don't end up making s*** up like the resident "Watch the gamezzzzzz" proponent here is so fond of doing.

Gom, you just said yesterday you "Erased" those PMs Ital sent you without even reading them, because you don't read s*** from people you don't know, yet you just mentioned them. Lie and make s*** up much?

Honestly...I don't see what is wrong with Scutaro for you. You got him cheap, he was the best option out there...why are you all really complaining? He's adequate, and for his versatility and average play...what's the issue?

I haven't seen enough of him at short. He looked decent at second, but I only saw him for 6-7 games a year anyways.

If being the dumbest person on the board and constantly namedropping yourself into conversations between people that forgot about you and losing every argument you've been apart of is "going into the heart of the enemy and sticking a knife in it" then go for it. Continue "sticking" it.

Besides, you were the one that assumed that I was talking about your team. You were talking about your ignorance in the way you follow your eyes over the stats, and I called you out for it. Then you ignorantly and defensively used the fact that your team (emphasis on your team, not on you) won the championship as a faux trump card.

Keep hiding behind the fact that your team won the World Series. It doesn't make you any less of a retard.

Besides, I don't need to go into the opposing fanbase's website and stir crap up just because nobody notices me. Are you this much of a prick in your own team's website?

Funny...have you ever made a point here? I mean...every had any news that was worthy, or something insightful?

Didn't think so.

I know your type. You think that everyone who doesn't agree with you, or follow your team, is confused and an idiot. Run along kid.

I follow my eyes over most defensive matrices. Absolutely. Why?

Not because I believe that I'm God's gift to baseball analysis, or view myself as some super scout. Simply because I do not believe that defensive matrices and formulas have evolved to the point of accepting them within an acceptable deviation of error. That's why.

Any defensive matrix that lists Tex as a below average defensive firstbaseman is a faulty matrix. All of a sudden, Jeter gets an Gold Glove firstbaseman, and he has a fantastic, nearly miraculous turnaround defensively. Cano is a below average defensive secondbaseman? Not from what I saw.

So...until the day comes that defensive matrices work out the kinks and become more "accurate", I don't trust them.

You're the kind of person who believes what is told to you. If you lived in the time, the world would be flat, and you would swear by it.

I have no time for fools.
