Wut?

Knowing the luck the FO has had with FA in the SS area the past few years is enough information to have a pessimistic view point on the subject. It will be an improvement, but I'm not sold on we'll get a great SS.

Oh and I feel the need to not trust that source.

I feel the need to trust it, because i read earlier from them that they had indeed asked for Scutaro's record, and that he was working out for them, which were both confirmed.

Just to f*** with me. Just.To.f***.With.Me.

I hope it's not true. The known fact is that the SS is going to be league average at best, though I was hoping for a younger and cheaper league average. If the source is right, that's an ancient side of an infield.

It says Scutaro signed with the Sox after medical examination' date=' contract terms unknown, more information shortly.[/quote']

thats pretty much what it says and that it wraps up with his last years stats.

No offense to our foreign contingent, but let's see an American source confirm it please.

It all depends on the length of the deal IMO.

Agreed, two years would make the deal tolerable.

I'll trust the newspaper simply because i was so adamant about not signing Scutaro and life loves to f*** with me.

2/18 is just the same as Lugo plus another year.

For a league average utility guy.

Wonderful.

And yet the Sox haven't had a league average shortstop since Renteria. And that's being generous.

Can we wait for official confirmation and contract terms?

Since 2005, the Sox will have committed $95 million ($104 including mutual option) to Rent A Wreck, Julio Friggin Lugo, and Marco Scutaro. Hope Jose Iglesias is the answer for a long term shortstop.

A) i figure the Sox lock it up but not early.

B ) If he looks over matched it could always help his development showing the things he needs to improve on. He could be used in a purely defensive roll.

Well Scutaro will be the guy for at least two years, which I can live with. This will give Iglesias the two full years of polishing he needs in the minors leagues and hopefully he can be ready in three years to take over. Even that is being optimistic. If he isn't at least we have Scutaro for an option year.

Craig Hansen?

Not sure relief pitchers are the way to go. Pretty easy to dismiss them as naturally volatile and unpredictable.

Probably a better example would be Wily Mo Pena, for reasons we all know fairly well.

Hansen is a fair example of a prospect rushed to the Majors.

Why wouldn't he be?
