JFC' date=' another awful call. They were clearly both off the base.[/quote']

McClelland, who is as highly regarded an umpire as you can be during the course of his career (although I never liked him because he always came off as sort of a prick) did a HORRIBLE job last night. Maybe it's time for the old sack to retire. Between the Swisher play and the Posada/Cano play (even though we got the call in our favor) he was just downright atrocious. I can't believe the level of umpiring in this postseason. Never in my life do I remember a year or postseason where the umpires were as ridiculed as much as this one, and rightfully so.

well the swisher's play was a make up for him getting picked off of secong. he was blatantly picked off. they should have been out of the inning anyway.

Vlad is just a shell of himself. He looks like the '09 April David Ortiz.

Which is what made the loss on Monday so tough to take. With two strikes, you cannot get beat by Vlad on a 91 MPH fastball.

Three blatant missed calls last night, and possibly another one at second.

It doesn't excuse the umpires, but at least the calls really didn't have an effect on the score. The missed call on the pickoff at second base, and then the missed call on Swisher leaving third early evened each other out. And, even though the Angels should have been out of the fifth inning a batter earlier, Melky grounded out to end the inning, without any runs scoring.

However, the two blown calls by Tim McClelland bother me. It was pointed out on the FOX broadcast that McClelland should have been further back on the fly ball to center field, in order to watch the catch and the base runner. The replay appeared to show that he was only watching the catch.

I also don't believe that McClelland intentionally missed the call to make up for the bad call at second, in part because there is no way McClelland could have known it was a bad call. He was in no position to get a good view of whether or not Swisher was tagged out before getting back to the bag. However, even if he knew it was a bad call, I still don't think a veteran like McClelland would do that.

However, the worst call, mainly based on his explanation, was the one where Cano should have been out. Based on his post game interview, it seemed like he just assumed that both runners would go to the back. It was as if McClelland had it predetermined in his mind what was going to happen, and blew the call because of it.

I think this series proves that the Yankees' previous inability to win in the postseason rests squarely on the shoulders of A-Rod. He's the catalyst this year. I'm not saying they're guaranteed WS champs, but they're down 3-1 instead of up 3-1 without A-Rod.

I definitely wouldn't say it's squarely on A-Rod. They've gotten some fantastic pitching performances, especially from CC.

Hearing the Angels talk about taking it one game at a time really reminds of me of 2004. That series has really been on my mind since the Yankees went up 2-0.

For what it's worth, I'm not saying that because the Angels are talking like that they're going to comeback. It just sparked up the memory.

3 runs in Anaheim with Lackey on the hill? This one is gonna hurt

We both know that they have no chance at this point. Facing elimination, at home, the Angels really showed up. This will probably resemble 2001 WS Game 6.

If on, Burnett can match anyone. But Burnett cannot find the break on the curveball and cannot keep the heater down. Good thing we are up 3-1

Fastest 4 runs I've seen scored to start in a long time

I was at that game in 03 (maybe?) when the sox dumped 10 on the Marlins before the first out.
