he is having a great year but i think he needs just a little longer to develop and i want him not to end up like price.

God, IMO, Price i so over rated.. Remember, Buchholz has a lot of games under his belt, plus a No No.

yeah and that and everything he has never really pitched this late into the season. i would love for him to be a 2007 josh beckett and hope he can help us win all he can. price is overrated but i think they rushed him a lot. i really hope along with a better fastball he develops a slider.

the rays are doing it to wade davis. all there starters are gonna be done. did it to kazmir to. they think once they hit the majors they should pitch like a cy young.

Awesome. A sweep of a team that the Sox have had quite a bit of trouble with in recent years. I know the Rays are reeling, but hey, I take what I can get.

Buchholz is really looking legit. If Dice-K is healthy (and I know that's a gigantic if), we are set for the post-season with the starting rotation so long as Beckett is over his recent troubles (and he showed signs of that yesterday).

Beating the ****ing Matt Garza made me smile....

6 weeks ago i said i wouldve traded lester for halliday straight up if that was on the table.

6 weeks later that was the wrong thing to say and it has nothing to do with Hallidays recent slump but more to do with Lester being a f***ing beast on the mound.

He is the best lefty in the game now, f*** cc, f*** johan, f*** em all.

Lester is now our #1 and has gotten better each start since his early issues of command have been resolved...ko'ing tampa was essential and now that theyve gottem them out of their hair theyre in great shape to beat texas for the wild card.with AJ Burnett pitching like ass and a traditional October failure like Sabbathia I can see NY going home early again this fall, they are the team to beat but they better hope sabby pitches like hes capable or theyre going to have some real problems against anyone standing at the end of the season, burnett is a jackoff, i figured hed be their best pitcher this year but inspite of his decent start of the season hes been beaten senseless by the sox and his #s have been fading since we hammered him back in July.

lester for halladay i would never. lester has a longer career and is on the upside in his career where halladay is in mid swing. few years he will suck.

And can I just add for emphasis -- he threw 30 pitches just a couple days ago, made no excuses and asked for no early outs, and went 8 shutout innings. Incredible.

lester will be a cy young winner in the future

Agreed. He's got the raw stuff, he's got the body type, he's got the attitude. He will dominate this league for many years.

i love his curve and the natural movement of the fastball is amazing

He's on the borderline right now. The award is pretty much Zack Greinke's to win but anyone with over 200 K's and 200 IP in a season has a chance to win in any given year. Lester should hit both marks.

lester just needs some work on getting his pitches at there best. if he does that. he will do great things in baseball. hopefully all with the red sox.

I'm not sure about this' date=' but I think his game will still improve and he will become more consistently dominant.[/quote']

If he improves and becomes more consistently dominant, then he's absolutely a perrenial CYA contender. For instance, he's been better than Greinke since the end of May.

From 5/31 through 9/14
Pitcher|IP|Record|ERA|K/9|WHIP

Lester|129.1|10-2|2.02|10.4|1.02

Greinke|130.1|5-7|2.97|9.3|1.19
This isn't to take anything away from Greinke. He's been better all year, but if you really believe Lester can be more consistently dominant, ie the pitcher he's been since the end of May, he's one of the best in the game.

Lester has done the amazing. He has followed a breakout year by breaking out AGAIN.

I wouldn't even want to make a guess at his ceiling at this point. I'm just along for the ride.
