having some semblance of an effective Dice-K starting Tuesday even gives us probably a better playoff rotation than in 2007

If Buchholz is really the pitcher we've seen the last month, if he's finally translating his awesomeness in the minors to the bigs, then yeah. With a better BP than the one they had that year, they could be dangerous in October.

i would like that but i would doubt the mlb would allow it. the nhl players play when they break ankles in half and in baseball they dont play if they have a broken nail.

the WBC is an MLB-run event...

besides, injuries are more likely when players get ramped up too early in the spring to play for that thing

he's been doing what he's been doing against some good offenses. I'm leaning more and more towards the "he's for real" opinion as opposed to "he's a fluke"

This is true, but given how much he struggled last year, I'll feel more confident with some continued success.

very true i just wish it was a quicker tourney so they can get back to real games. i think if they do it every four years it would be better. it would be like the Olympics are. build up the anticipation of the games.

The schedule is for every 4 years. It was only 3 years between the first and second WBC because they wanted to get on an odd year and not conflict with the World Cup, Summer Olympiad, or Winter Olympiad.

I think Buchholz had proven his self before Farrell decided to mess with his arm angle. After that is when he went downhill and now that his arm is back to where it should have never left; he is back to be a really good pitcher. Is that real deal no doubt about it.

His control is pretty good right now and his confidence is through the roof.

if he starts to walk someone he will take a few batters to get it back. today was a great day for him. no control issues. if he pitches like this for the rest of the year and i think he still has much to improve in. i hope he can develop a fastball like becketts with that nasty ass tail.

I agree 100%!

His number one pitch is his change up.. Once he gets a better fast ball he could be one of the best pitchers in the game. He is pretty damn good now.

Also, his control has been really good his last 5 or 6 starts.

before that his control was bad but if he can stay away from that. plus those first few were actually pretty good just got raw end of the deal facing other teams number one.

9-12 of his starts have been awesome with great control. Also, in 9-12 he has not allowed over 3 runs. With that being said, I have no doubt in my mind he will be just fine down the stretch.

me too, just gotta hope they dont really need him until the alcs because hopefully dicek will perform. and the others can do well hope the wake can be back by then.

I would be shocked if it wasn't Beckett, Lester and Buchholz arn't 1,2,3.

it would be nice but if dicek comes back and does well there is no way that buchholz will the 3. i hope at best he is the spot starter. i would love to have buchholz as a five starter throughout the playoffs which shows we have depth.

Who's is going to be number four?? Wake and Byrd is a big NO!

gotta trust the Wake. he will always be there and hope he gets better. and buchholz as a three will be really good even if we dont have dicek and wake.

I take Buchholz over Wakefield without thinking twice.

I'm going to have to agree 100% here.

Dice-K would have to be spectacular in the handful of starts he would get and Buchholz has to falter for that to happen

First off, you don't use a fifth starter in the postseason. And why are you so down on Buchholz? He's pitched very well lately

does clay have any real playoff experience. playoffs may overwhelm him i hope not but it may.

I don't think he is down on Buchholz, I just don't think he trusts him for some reason.

im not downing on him i just think he has had a 10 or 11 great starts this year and still think it might work out. and some teams will use five when they have enough depth.

he is having a great year but i think he needs just a little longer to develop and i want him not to end up like price.
