Right on mate. If he continues to do well in this start, he'd have 8 good/very good starts, 3 bad/very bad starts, and 1 decent/middle start. Not too shabby.

Just for the record' date=' Adam LaRoche is .342/.420/.575/.995 in 33 games with Atlanta. And that's not counting the fact that he just hit his 9th HR for the Braves in that time span.[/quote']

He wouldn't have done that in Boston either. He would have Kotchmans role, playing once a week. Kotchman has a better glove, and they can keep him as a solid back up next year as well.

And Alex Gonzalez is hitting .278/.278/.456 with a HR tonight to add onto that. The point being, in a small window of time, s***** players look acceptable, acceptable players look terrific, and vice versa, so long as you are looking at the right window. Then, on top of that, there's the fallacy of the foregone conclusion, which in this case is that, for one, he'd get to play often enough here to go on that kind of streak, and two, that he'd hit that well against different pitchers in a different league.

I don't know dude, LaRoche is consistently a top notch 2nd half player throughout his career. It isn't really a small sample size anymore. LaRoche's OPS is close to 1 while Kotchman's is a .589 entering this game and he's 0-3 thus far. I'm not necessarily saying that we shouldn't have done the trade, but it's certainly worth noting thus far, Bosox's earlier point withstanding nonetheless.
