Torre's not Bush League either.

That whole thing is so stupid, for lack of a better word. The 2004 Yankees set a franchise record for home runs. They hung 6 runs up against Schilling in game one. They had scored 38 runs in five games against the Red Sox up to that point.

Joe Torre made a couple mistakes in that series. For one he should have pitched Mike Mussina in game four. He should have tried to steal against Varitek and Wakefield in game five. He probably should have brought in Tom Gordon in the second inning of game seven to face Damon. But not have the 2004 Yankees bunt against Curt Schilling in game six is not one of those mistakes.

I disagree 100%. It would be the Bush League thing to do. And Ozzie is not Bush League.
This is professional sports. You exploit your opponents weaknesses. If you don't, you'll finfd yourself out of a job sooner than later. Cy Young retired, not because he could no longer pitch, but because he could no longer field bunts. They bunted on Cy Young. Why not bunt on Wakefield?

I know some Yankee fans that are still upset that he didn't bunt on Schilling. Hey, I'm glad he didn't. :D

And there is nothing professional about what you are suggesting.

Some aspects of the game have changed since Cy Young was pitching.

Bunting is part of the game. A pitcher has to field his position. Runners steal on catchers that can't throw. They steal at will on Wakefield too. Why is bunting on a lame pitcher bush league, but running on him at will is not? Please explain.

I don't agree at all with VA for the record. In football, if a corner comes up limping after a play, go right after him on the next one. If a hitter fouls the ball off his foot, come right back inside.

However, there is a difference between taking advantage of someone's injury as opposed to taking advantage of their pitching style. I see what she is saying.

How is a limping cornerback any different than a limping pitcher?

It looks bad. They steal a lot too because Tek is behind the plate, that's normal. Why don't more manager's do it? You mention they did it against Cy Young, any recent examples? Like in our life time?

Right, like I said, I agree with you. All I was doing was acknowledging that there is a difference between taking advantage of someone's pitching style (Wakefield's knuckle ball) and taking advantage of someone's injury.

Example of an injured pitcher? You can't see the difference, so let's agree to disagree.

Nice of FOX to take us to the end of the TEX-BAL game when this one is over.

The Yankees weren't on anywhere since they played at 1pm right?
