Dodgers Acquire Garland and Thome; Rockies Acquire Contreras

I was thinking the same thing. I don't see how Thome fits on any NL team. He's a huge liability on defense. When is the last time he even played in the field?

Besides Inters?

2005 with the Phils i guess.

I edited the title to include Contreras to Colorado' date=' since it doesn't warrant a separate thread.[/quote']

No, it does not.

Contreras will immediately go and be a dominant NL pitcher.

let the Chicago firesale commence.

If we lose Bay, we might be able to work a deal in the offseason for Jermaine Dye.

Although not a bad option. But I'd hope that's like plan "E" or something.

There isn't really a ton of difference between Dye in left and Bay in left, but given my druthers I'd keep the younger player too, when possible.

Still a good candidate for 25-30 HR's though. He's better than a melange of rushed rookies in left if we can't bring Bay back.

He's old, champ.

He's not a horrible choice, but I would rather get a guy who got on base at a higher clip. He's been slipping since his 1.004 2006 OPS season, and will be 36 in 2010.

The Red Sox have the money to get Holliday, but I'd rather save the cash and go after Mauer.

Even if they get Holliday and extend V-Mart, the Sox should still have enough money after '10 to go after Mauer with Lowell's, Tek's and Papi's contracts expiring.

Beckett will need a extension soon as well. Can't forget that. Although i see it getting done tis off season.

Also Buchholz and Paps will need to be taken care of, and the yearly increases for the already signed players will take up a lot of that slack. Still a good point though.

Bucholz?

lol.

Interesting trade for both teams. The ChiSox are having a late firesale with their older players. For the Dodgers, I don't know where he fits in, but I would not mind having his bat around for the playoffs.

So now Manny and Thome are together, where is Kenny Lofton?

More scatine heading to the AAAA league to save the day.

I saw Barry""they gave me 100Million"" Zito toss 8 1/3 the other day, Joelle Piniero has an era at 3.00 and John Smoltz looked like he was 30 years old in his last start..

The National League is a f***ing joke, maybe they should consider using asterisks for any record set in the senior circuit due to the incredible difference in talent between the leagues.

I heard Babson has some open dates next February that they were looking to fill but most of the NL is ducking them.

Smoltz gets smoked repeatedly in the AL and looks liek a fkn champ in his first NL start? I was always a huge Smoltz fan....but maybe I gave him too much credit????

What up Sean? Been a while since I've visited.
