THAT is why walking with RISP is pointless. You have to put the ball in play.

That's also why I also prefer having 2nd and 3rd to the bases loaded. No force play, no double play. Loading the bases there just causes too many problems.

You'd prefer an unproductive out?

That is all.

I know, it's not completely accurate, but unless the bases are loaded, you aren't driving in runs with a walk. I just KNEW we were going to get screwed when Drew walked.

You'd rather have one less baserunner? Drew swinging at either of those two pitchers would have been a feeble groundout to the 1st baseman.

Besides, Gonzalez and Ellsbury should have gotten the job done. They failed. Not Drew.

Romero is trying to give us this game and it looks like we're not willing to accept it.

3rd time will be the charm.

BTW' date=' Sox traded for Joey Gathright. He can jump over cars. I'm sold.[/quote']

Do you have a link? I can't find anything on it. he's fast as hell. He can run down balls in the OF.

Yeah, and with 2nd and 3rd, they would have drove in runs. With the bases loaded, though, they are easy force out at the plate and double play.

And no, I'm not blaming this all on Drew. He didn't make an out, so I'm not made at him. To be fair, too, he didn't exactly get a single good pitch to hit. I'm more stating why I hate turning 2nd and 3rd into a bases loaded situation.

Of course it's preferable to for the defense to have the bases loaded there. Ever stop yourself from your panty wetting initial reaction to think that maybe the defense would pitch around the hitter that's up there, letting him put the ball in play on pitches out of the strikezone and harder to hit well?

As long as every offensive player doesn't channel their inner Julio Lugo, then this game should be in the bag. Then again with how the last 2 innings were played, this is going to be a long game.

Drew did nothing wrong, just got on base like he should and he's awesome, enough said

When did I mention the intentions of the defense? I'm simply stating that I HATE it when it happens, regardless of intentions.

I don't have a good link right now but MLBTR and Amalie Benjamin are reporting it.

You're correct that 2nd & 3rd with 0 out gives a greater chance to score 1 run than bases loaded and 0 out. But, as stated, Drew didn't get any pitches to hit.

It's 1-0. It's not in the bag.

I don't know about that, but the expected runs are 2.3 with the bases full, and 2.0 with second and third.
