Yes, but the Sox have way better options on the bench.. IMO Tek really hurts the Sox. He can not hit, throw (98 stolen bases on him) and run. His number say it all. The only thing he has is he knows the pitchers better then VMark. That is not enough for me anymore.

Here's the Yankees lineup, plus some pregame notes:

 

1. Derek Jeter, SS

2. Johnny Damon, LF

3. Mark Teixeira, 1B

4. Alex Rodriguez, 3B

5. Hideki Matsui, DH

6. Nick Swisher, RF

7. Robinson Cano, 2B

8. Melky Cabrera, CF

9. Jose Molina, C

-- CC Sabathia, SP

 

Red Sox manager Terry Francona clarified Brad Penny's role going forward before tonight's game. Tim Wakefield will take Penny's place in the rotation on Wednesday, but Penny will be available in the bullpen for long relief that night if Wakefield struggles or has to be pulled early. Junichi Tazawa starts Thursday, and, if Penny doesn't pitch Wednesday, he'll back up Tazawa on Thursday night in the same way. If Penny doesn't pitch on either day, he'll throw a simulated game Friday and the Red Sox will go from there. Francona said he didn't want to convert Penny into a reliever.

 

One other note: Victor Martinez will officially catch Wakefield on Wednesday.
