Who am I?

I'm hitting .310 with a .404 on-base percentage. I only have 11 home runs but I have 80 RBI, 74 runs scored and 26 stolen bases. My teammates and his manager love me.

I'm also getting paid a base salary of only $5 million.

Bobby Abreu.

I strongly pushed for the Yankees signing him and trading Matsui for Washburn [the deal would have been workable, as the Mariners had a dearth of offense, and if the Yankees ate half of Matsui's salary, it would have worked with ease]. Imagine the Yankees with Abreu and possibly Washburn at an extra 4 million instead of Matsui.

Even more so, imagine what Abreu would have meant to the Red Sox.

Both GMs s*** the bed for a player that not only succeeded in the AL East, but thrived here. Unlike Swisher, Abreu can actually hit a good pitcher. Unlike Drew, Abreu can tie his shoelaces without going on the DL.

They both dropped the ball. f*** them both.

No...but Abreu is better than Drew, he's better than Papi, and on our side, he's better than Swisher or Matsui.

He also makes less than all those players except Swisher.

Abreu was totally unrealistic for the Sox.

You know your team better than I do, but he was not unrealistic in the least for the Yankees.

Yeah' date=' no place to play for Abreu and he wasn't going to take a backup role.[/quote']

Would you rather have Drew or Ortiz at the plate than Abreu?

At this point' date=' no. But before the season, yes, which is why I don't think Theo dropped the ball.[/quote']

Fair enough. Then Cashman dropped the ball. f*** him.

Might as well credit the source Gom...

Lol, you even took the line about teammates and managers. This thread made me laugh.

EDIT: And what did you want Cashman to do? Offer him arbitration? Considering you read the article, you'll know that wasn't an option. The market didn't go as Abreu and his agent thought it would, and, at the last minute, the Angels got lucky. It would be great to have Abreu, especially considering the money he is making, but the Yankees weren't going to get him for that price and Cashman hardly dropped the ball on this one.

What a stupid post, but I expect nothing more from Gom.

1. Matsui wasnt getting traded. First of all, he's getting 13 mil a yr and coming off two consecutive injury plagued yrs. Second, he has a blanket no trade. Third, why in god's name would the Mariners deal Washburn, a player who is cheaper and more durable for an injury prone DH.

2. Abreu wasnt coming back after we declined to offer arbitration. AND, in your twisted reality, even if he did accept 1 yr 5 mil from us, he would have had to settle for a DH or reduced PT role AND we wouldnt have Tex.

In conclusion, you are an idiot.
