Funny. This reminds me of the first time I found out that many of you were high schoolers. Unlike other sites, the mods and the ones with the most posts are mature, level headed adults. In this case, most of the (most) frequent posters are children and posts like these reflect how blatantly obvious this is. I'm going to guess you're 15-17?

Besides

Italstallianion = Ital + Stall + ian + ion

Now put 1 and 3 with 2 and 4 to get:

Ital + ian (Italian) and Stall + ion (Stallion)

So in other words, you're a dyslexic horse. Good to know.

No, but ItalianStallion was taken on most websites, (Yahoo, AIM etc) so I took italstallianion and rolled with it. Now I'm used to it and have been using it since. What of it, I mean what the f*** could it possibly have to do with anything?

Guzman isn't that great. However, his 1.0 WARP for 2009 and his 3.6 for 2008 are both better than any options the Sox have currently. It is comparable to Mike Lowell's production this year, taking both offense and defense into account.

Green's WARP for 09 is 0.1. Guzman is a legitimate, established MLB SS. When he hits well, he hits pretty well. When he doesnt he's like most weak-hitting middle infielders.

I don't like him as an answer at SS and barely like him as a backup... but having to pick between he and Nick Green I'll take Guzman, especially if I'm lucky enough to still have Green as a backup.

Alright, Example, fair enough. I have a crazy idea however: Let's try and pretend that no one was really disputing that Guzman was better than Green and that the conversation of the afternoon centered around two questions:

1: Is the marginal upgrade of Guzman over Green worth the contract cost

2: Is the marginal upgrade of Guzman over Green worth the opportunity costs associated with going into the offseason still bound to a mediocre SS on top of the money we'd owe Lugo. The specific opportunity in question was the opportunity to acquire Hanley Ramirez in trade, which would be made more problematic by an acquisition of Guzman. Would this team, with Guzman, be better than the team that we would have plus Hanley and minus the king's ransom of prospects he'd cost?

It would be funny if after all this arguing that the story was false.

That it would.

There is now officially mud in the water. The other fansites I still have access to are up in flames.

Personally I don't think it'd surprise me either way. Taking on a heavy financial commitment for 2010 wasn't in character with what I thought Theo was up to however.

WE'RE not taking it, the SOX ORGANIZATION is taking it, and they CAN take it to make the team BETTER.

Stop talking like it's your money.

And besides, this team has quite a bit of financial flexibility.

But since you're so concerned about the Red Sox's economic situation you'd rather they wait for Lowrie who might not play at all this season and stay with the Green/Woodward combination of SUCK?

Sweet Jesus.

They would spend $17 million on shortstops yet wouldn't pony up for Tex.

Awesome f***ing job.

I agree, and not being passive aggresive.

You should drop that, though, seriously.

Nothing we can do about it now.

Shortstop is not the f***ing problem on this team. It's Ortiz, it's Varitek, it's Drew (although he's had a good couple of weeks), it's Bay.

Awesome f***ing job.

The FO has made some terrible decisions since 2007. Prior to 2008, the FO was on balance doing a very good job despit a few mistakes. The recent bad moves have made it a much closer call regarding their performance. I think it might be weighted more to the negative.

Christian Guzman is a horrendous baseball player. Green/Woodward isn't going to make the difference for the Sox over the next two months, it will be the back end of the rotation and the AARP members of this team.

It's also Francona.

There're a couple of things he needs to realize:

A) Varitek should back V-Mart up and be used strictly against SOME left-handers.

B ) He needs to play Youk at first, Lowell at third, Papi at DH most of the time.

He needs to match this offense up regardless of loyalties.

That way, he could get it to be a lot more productive.

You'll get no argument from me. They did what they could with the Manny trade, their offseason was horrible, and while I quite like Martinez the prospects would have been better used in a larger package for Cliff Lee.

I really, really, really can't believe I am about to type this, but here it goes:

I miss watching Manny Ramirez hit for the Boston Red Sox.

My balls hurt from doing this but:

I second this in a loud manner.

I used to tell people how special Manny and Ortiz were while they were tearing it up. Lots of people have the view that they can be easily replaced. We will never see a show like that again.

A lot of moves need to be made this off-season to fix the mess this offense has become.

Pitching and defense are the most important part of the game, but a consistent offense can bail you out of a lot of jams.

unfortunately that is too true...i miss that duo.

And Manny would still be in a Sox uniform, if he hadn't been such an ass and burned all of his bridges here.

I only wish Theo had some balls and pulled off a couple trades this offseason to turn this team into a no-doubt juggernaut.

We'll have the pitching, needing only a starter which we could get for just money.

We can make Martinez the full time C to stop the offensive SUCK.

Set in the OF.

Need a SS who can hit, and a middle-of-the-order CIF.

so HanRam and ?.

who is a decent corner infield bat that can be had for quite a bit cheaper than Gonzo?

what does the FA market look like for the corners?

spending money is alot better than spending 95% of your prospects away for 2 positions.

LOL.

We wouldn't even use 9 of our top 20 to get HanRam and Gonzo.
