I'll wager you the case of El Presidente that i win from Dipre that Guzman will start 80% or more of the games until the end of the season. Put up or shut up.

Edit: Excluding any games missed for injury.

Lol.

I don't really want Guzman either. But that doesn't mean Green doesn't suck.

I'm not exactly claiming that Green is the next Ozzie Smith, but picking up a guy like Guzman is definitely a panic move, and I don't want him on "my" team.

No Green isn't ideal. But will Guzman really make that much difference?

I see a fatter version of Lugo...

At this point I think defense is more important at SS then hitting.

And besides, NO ONE HERE HAS STATED THEY WANT GREEN TO GO AWAY.

We simply want him backing up, which is what he's supposed to do.

Maybe not this year, but if Green is on the roster in 2010 I wouldn't be pleased. We need to address the SS problem, and Nick Green is not an answer.

Real shortstop's build there. Slap the tools of ignorance on that guy and I'd believe it better.

Full cheek creases and double chin. You want this guy at SS?

I don't know how this is a panic move. Unless we part with a good prospect for him and he turns into Jeff Bagwell' date=' this is just a money move, and it is relatively short term. He's not in the first year of a 5 year contract. It would be two months and next season, and he'd probably be our starting SS next season after seeing the FA pool.[/quote']

What if he prevents the Red Sox from pursuing a far more elite talent in the offseason? How would you feel about him then? You might want the move now. But could be cursing the FO and Guzman come December.

This guy is Julio Lugo's fatter twin. Do you really want him back?

Guzman is the fat chick you take home from the bar after drinking too much. At the time it seems like a good idea. But in the morning you kicking yourself for hooking up with a cow that's now taking up space in your bed....

He'd be better than Guzman.

But is he available?

He IS head and shoulders above Guzman offensively and defensively as well.

I did mention' date=' I believe, that I'm an LDS. it even touched off quite a crapstorm Yeszir had to clean up. Keep your case of beer.[/quote']

All the more reason to send it to me!

Im all for keeping our SS situation over getting Guzman, I think he is a very marginal upgrade if he is an upgrade at all, if we could get someone better id be all for it but Guzman brings nothing to the table IMHO.

umm btw im probably stupid for asking this but what is a LDS?

Personally I have to think that half the reason to go for Guzman is that whole idea that anyone else must be better than the guy we have. Personally I think that's foolish.

Player A: .232 /.302/.365 .667 OPS.

Player B : .315/ .333/ .437 .770 OPS.

Would player B constitute a "marginal upgrade" over player A?

Mormonism or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Marginal yes. Significant enough to bring in Julio Guzman? No...

If we're talking shortstops it could be. If the guy with the .770 OPS looks like Garfield and has extremely limited range and the .667 OPS guy is a capable fielder then the upgrade could be very marginal indeed.

Sure, but what do those numbers look like after you adjust for league difficulty, and add his defensive weaknesses. Does it look like a significant upgrade?

Pretty much yeah. And there we stop. I don't want Yeszir mad at me again. :)

I am one. That does not mean I wish to explain or defend the church at all times.
