Does he take some of the blame for the lack of hitting or no? Is his job on the line for the rest of the season? Wondering what everybody else thinks..because I'm not really sure. When he first got here in 2007, with a good healthy lineup they increased their average, obp, slg and walks significantly. So he isn't horrible and I'm not saying he is..its just when the hitting is horrible a lot of people usually look to the manager but Magadan is the guy working with them on a regular basis in the cages and in BP. Of course it's up to the hitters to execute but if you used that excuse every time coaches would stay until they die. Sometimes a change is in order.

He was fired from SD because their AVG hit an NL low..but it isn't as if his offense has improved too much either. That's on the front office from SD for putting a crappy lineup out there.

Some of the blame. Even our best hitters Pedroia' date=' Youkilis, Ortiz etc. are struggling.[/quote']Pedroia and Youk have done just fine. I don't know who could've helped Ortiz this season. He has been miserable.

Yeah I guess everybody on the team is untouchable' date=' coaching staff included and we should just call for Epstein's head. That sounds like a much more realistic thread to make. I'll get right on that.[/quote']

Go right ahead, champ.

You make it sound like it's a bad thing to be reactionary.

It is.

Never understood why they let him go.

Call me crazy - if Papa Jack is with us WMP will be playing for the Red Sox now. Magadan was a looser in San Diego - I don't know why we appointed him. Papa Jack was the scapegoat for injury ridden 2006 season - that's all.

The offensive down-slide pretty much started with the appointment of Magadan - not a co-incidence.

Mag's main teaching principle is plate discipline, and these guys aren't even doing anything close to that now (Ex. 7 pitch inning from Pettitte). They need a spark. It's a lot easier to get rid of 1 guy than 10 or 11. Just get rid of him now.

We've been through bad stretches before and will again. This one just happens to be conspicuously ill-timed. We got super cold just as the Yankees got super hot.

I've got an open mind on Magadan's job though, since several key players are showing a conspicuous lack of power right now and Magadan's game eschews power in favor of OBP. He's done wonders with Youkilis but it may be time to find a guy who can get a few of our other bats back.

Somebody needs to be held accountable for this six game stretch. Magadan is the choice. Completely shameful and inexcusable.

This offense has been too inconsistent.

I've been thinking maybe Magadan should go as soon as this offense started s***ing the bed earlier in the season.

However, this was still a reactionary thread.

Just sayin'.
