I think Beckett has the advantage over Burnett.

By a f***ing mile.

This series looks like an easy split to me.

I do too.

I just think it's one of those games we lose 2-1, 3-2.

Something to keep in mind when people mock me for being overly negative:

The next 31 games for the Sox are against the Yankees, Blue Jays, White Sox, Rangers and Rays. After two games against Baltimore, the Sox six against the Rays and Angels. They then play seven against Baltimore and KC before finishing up the season with six against the Yankees and Blue Jays, and three against Cleveland. That's 43 out of 56 scheduled games against playoff caliber teams, if you count Toronto because they'd probably be a playoff contender if they weren't in the AL East.

Really tough schedule. Yanks could really begin to pull away with the division very soon.

how can anyone say that about a yankee sox series? Cmon now, you are better than that. If I were a betting man, I'd probably say we take 3 of 4 based on the sheer offensive difference and the fact that you have Buchholz and Smoltz throwing two of the games. But this is yankee red sox. This is the pinnacle of unpredictability. For all we know, the yankees could take all 4 or Buch and Smoltz could man up and sweep the yankees out of NY.

If you don't think we can win the games started by Beckett and Lester, then your combined levels of stupidity and homerism have reached a point where there is no returning to sanity.

May God have mercy on your soul.

Idiot. READ THE POST!

I read it.

I picked up your little shot right away.

"If i were a betting man"

You're about as insincere as Florida balloting officials.

saying something looks like an easy split or an easy anything in a yankee sox series is stupid. There. Is that better? Did I break it down enough for you or do I need to type in spanish?

Nah man i'm just s***ing with you.

I know Sox-Yanks can go either way.

Thats the Dipre I remember. Why so bitter these days?

I'm just bored. Meh.

But i honestly think we split this series.

Smoltz and Buch s*** the bed, win with Beckett and Lester.

I'll be a good boy and behave without starting shitstorms.

They aren't hitting, they have no #3 starter, Tito has no answers, the Yankees are winning everything in sight--in fact overachieving some. I'm tempted to say 6.5 games back by Monday. They could collapse, as in 06.

The key to the season has to be Dice-K. That screwed them. They did not plan on him missing the season. They have not replaced him. None of their chancey signings has shown much. Nor has Buchholz, who looks mishandled at this point.

I really hope they move on from Wakefield at the end of the season. This is what, 4 seasons in a row now where they have counted on "his 200 innings of league average ERA" and he has been hurt in the second half?

Move on.

I get the feeling this is Wake's final full season. I think he either retires, or starts coming in half way through the year for a couple years. Which would give the Sox a nice boost in the 2nd half IMO.

If Bucholz sacks up just a bit and Smoltz stops pitching like a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates, this team will make the playoffs.

If those two don't step up, we're f***ed. In a big way.

Wakefield's first half alone was worth $4 mil

That's not the point. Why not just Clemens him and not have him start until July?

He's been hurt in the 2nd half the last four seasons. Time to move on.
