I think he is still a valuable guy for this team and a very clutch bat.

For me, it's all a matter of how his hip is. I like the guy, but if his health causes problems for the team I don't want that to get in the way. If he's feeling alright, leave him in.

And right on cue, here he comes! 4-0 Sox.

Drew didn't look close to being healed. Dipre, did you accept my bet for the case of El Presidente? BTW, what do we do in the OF, if Bay and Drew are out of action for the Rays and the Yanks? The nerd can't play 2 OF positions, and Baldelli will be on life support by Wednesday.

He seems to be moving around pretty well, since coming off the DL.

Good. I really hope he continues to do so and contribute to the team.

Again, in the not-so-outrageous event that his hip becomes a problem, the Sox need to deal with it and place him on the DL. We have too many other options at this point to try to let Lowell work through something at the expense of offensive production from 3B at this point of the season. If he's healthy, by all means, let him play.

Uh yeah, more so then the weeks leading up to his DL stint. In the first inning it looked like he was moving pretty good on his way to second base.

I guess. But let's not kid ourselves. He has a debilitating injury that will not get better. He has a hard time running and moving laterally when at 3B. I love the guy. And he can still hit.

V-Mart will allow the Sox to regulate (for lack of a better word) Lowell's discomfort and extend his productivity for the rest of the year.

It's good that he can get some rest, but I don't think it's in the team's best interests for him to hit the DL.

The man writhes in pain every time he tries to beat out a grounder.

I'm just saying what I see from watching the games. He looks to be moving better.

What if his hip starts to become a problem and Tito wants to try to let him work through it at the expense of our offensive output? Not only that, but then he becomes even more of a statue at 3B. If this happens, they should DL him, use the surplus of talent and flexibility they have, and free up his roster spot out of it.

I love the guy, and if he's healthy he should absolutely be a part of a cycle that regulates playing/rest time. That said, if his hip does become a nag with the injury's history, I don't think it will be something that some "rest" will help. I think it would be a larger problem.
