Oh yeah' date=' how was Cooperstown?[/quote']Cooperstown was great. This was the third time I went to an induction ceremony. The first time was in 1989 for Yaz. Back then the ceremony was done on the grounds behind the Hall of Fame. When I went again (1992) they were doing it off premises, because they had expanded the Hall and they didn't have enough land in back. When it moved off-site, it lost some of its charm. I booked the trip with Red Sox Destinations, and I found it to be a tremendous value. We spent Saturday morning in the museum and touring the collectible shops. At around noon, we went for a sandwich at a place named Danny's. The place was at overflow status, so there was no place to sit and eat. We went out the back door and there was one picnic table and a bench. My brother sat on the bench as went in to pickup our order. In the back a few cars were parked, and the sandwich place was stacking it's used boxes and there was a dumpster. It was nothing fancy to say the least, but it was a place to sit for a bit. As was picking up our sandwich order, a gray Lexus pulled up and dropped off Joe Morgan who entered the adjacent building. We soon realized that the building next door was running a huge memorabilia show, and the players were being shuttled in and out the back entrance by the same Lexus. There were only a few other people back there that had stumbled upon this place in the same way. A couple of guys were collectors and tried unsuccessfully to get autographs.

The players were apologetic explaining that they couldn't sign, because the promoter prohibited it, but they were very willing to pose for photos with the fans, except Lou Brock who wouldn't look up or stop even to wave. Ralph Branca was the only one to sign outside, and he was taking questions and talking. Those old Brooklyn guys are the best. When I went in 1989, at the rope line as the players entered very few stopped to sign. Pee Wee Reese signed for everybody who wanted his autograph. He lived in my home town, Bay Ridge Brooklyn for many years. The old-timers in the neighborhood used to tell me alot about how the Brooklyn Dodgers were great neighbors and regular guys. Branca was a reminder of that wonderful era gone by. Some one asked Branca if he was still upset about the Giants stealing signs in the 1951 season. His answer was as passionate as if it had happened yesterday. He said, that he was still angered by it, because you have to play the game with integrity. He said that to have set up a system to cheat on a daily basis using telescopes and buzzers cheated him, his teammates and all the Brooklyn fans. I told him that when the cheating story was finally made public about 6 or 7 years ago that my son wrote an article for his High School newspaper entitled "The Giant's Stole the Pennant! The Giants Stole the Pennant!"

Some of you may remember my Wade Boggs' story a few months back. I got to say a few words to Wade on the way into the show and I reminded him that he'd fished in a tournament with my friend in NY and that I was the 7:17 guy. He smiled and said I remember... 7:17. I called you.

Beckett is absolutely dealing right now.

Thats why I love Beckett because we could be down 1-0 on an error and he could go 9 innings and he makes no excuses, he does his job and if he doesnt get a W he blames himself for not being good enough, he will carry this team on his back if he has too because he refuses to lose...

Why is Cahill still out there? Do they want to just forfeit the game or something?

They don't want to kill the BP for the series probably.
