Might as well. The dude can absolutely not hit. His father was useless with the bat, he is insanely even worse. It will be interesting to see if he can develop into anything useful on the mound.

Does he have a somewhat powerful arm? This is just a farce otherwise.

He set down the Tigers 1-2-3 in his 1 inning of relief duty. It shows he has some kind of ability to get hitters out. But his sample size will have to become a lot larger to know for sure.

He touched 93 on the Pudge strikeout IIRC.

It would be nice to see him develop as an effective pitcher. If for no other reason than it would be a nice "feel good" baseball story. He must have shown some ability. Even a bottom dwelling franchise like KC should have some odea of how to evaluate his talent.

I have a feeling that he is more than just Jose Canseco running in from left field.

By the way, Tony Pena was a pretty solid catcher, as I recall.

I was gonna say that, Pena sr. was at a position that doesnt necissarily need offensive powress but atleast Pena sr. batted over .175 and was a good defensive catcher i dont think Pena Jr. was an elite defensive SS...

Pena was an elite Catcher behind the plate. He couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat though.

91 actually, but he got him on what IIRC was a 75 mile an hour curve right over the heart of the plate. Didn't dip much, and the location was very chancy, but the saparation was interesting and he caught Pudge flat-footed with it.

Also had some sink to his fastball and got the first out on a tough high chopper to the mound.

he might get to 93 with some conditioning and the right coaching. if it was just about stuff, as desparate as the Royals are they'd just leave him in KC. Can't be worse than what they already have.

I think this comment is false, it really depends where he is. For example, if he is in the ocean and he falls out of a boat, he will obviously hit the water. However, if he is on land and falls out of a boat he wont hit the water. So it really depends, or if he's a river or lake he'll also hit the water, but if he is in a building and falls out of a boat, he will not hit water.

I would like to see how the transition goes from being a position player in the OF to a pitcher.

Thanks for clearing that up for everyone.

Anyway, It'll be interesting to see if Pena can get back into majors as a pitcher.

It's always interesting when players make drastic changes. If they succeed in reinventing themselves, it makes for a great story.

Oh come on, it wasn't VERY funny, but it was OK.
