Martinez and Niese are two high profile prospects in their own right. That would be akin to Anderson and Buchholz IMO (Martinez being worth more than Anderson and Buchholz being worth more than Niese to even it out). Niese wasn't even a BA midseason top 50 guy, I'd say he's relatively on par with Bowden. Martinez is probably slightly more regarded than Anderson (lars being a top 40 guy, Martinez being a top 25 guy). As for the Parnell and Tejada components I think two guys like Kalish and doubrout would be comparable, and that's a package the Mets turned down, not the Jays. Buchholz does not need to be involved here and I highly doubt the Red Sox even consider trading him for anyone short of Hanley Ramirez.

The Red Sox aren't winning past the 3rd inning of a game, GAME OVER. The Red Sox lost a game! The Yankees are a better team than us! I don't think they'll continue to play .700 baseball but I'm gonna go ahead and call everyone else that says that a homer.

The sox were 7-6 with Youks on the DL. If the sox lose tonight, their record will be 55-37. That means, they are 48-31 with Youks activated. 48/(48+31)= .607

Well, that's what the trade deadline is for. Theo needs to take a close evaluation of this team and make the necessary upgrades via trades.

No, it starts with Bucholz, Bowden and Anderson........ends with prob Bard or Masterson.

 

Why wouldnt Toronto ask for that? They are not making the playoffs and are in no rush to deal him. If they do, they start rebuilding.....if not maybe they make some moves in the offseason and become competitive.....at the very least, they have a year and a half to listen to offers. Why not ask for the world, somebody will give it to them when they get desperate.

He was locating, but didn't have his best stuff. He gave up the game very, very quickly. 2-1 Sox became 6-2 Rangers rather quickly. Some of that is on Tito.

 

And the lineup still can't hit.

Which is all I'm saying. I don't believe we can sit here and just say "everything will be okay because the Yankees will regress." Yes, they'll regress and we'll improve, but not enough to keep pace with the Yankees. If we make a move, I'll feel better.

The question is, will the sox as currently constructed make the playoffs. Seeing as the main competitors are Texas and TB, the sox have a strong likelihood of making the playoffs. I dont think the yankees will force his hand, but if the rays continue playing like they have played, and make up some ground, then theo may have to make a move.

Adrien Gonzalez is an excellent hitter, our first baseman, third baseman and DH are hitting now. The LF is hitting .250 and the RF is hitting .240. Our SS are sub-standard offensively and our CF has little pop. I don't see how Adrien Gonzalez helps us.
