Saturday: Heyman says the Phillies offered "a prospect apparently not to Yankees' liking" for Wang.

Friday: SI's Jon Heyman tweets that the Phillies and Rangers are among the teams interested in Yankees righthander Chien-Ming Wang. We first learned of Philadelphia's interest in the sinkerballer last weekend, but the Rangers are new to the discussion. With the recent news that Ben Sheets may not pitch all at this season, Texas could turn to Wang for help as they prepare to make a second half run at the first place Angels. They certainly have the young players to offer in exchange for Wang, or any other pitcher in the big leagues for that matter.

Wang famously struggled earlier in the season but has settled down of late, allowed three earned runs or less in his last four starts.

This makes little to no sense to me. Why trade a player when his value is at his lowest? This is the same pitcher who was very successful his entire career going into this year, and you can never have too much pitching. More idiocy from the village idiot, Cashman.

Nowhere in that post does it say that Cashman is actually considering trading Wang. More assumptions from you.

Why would other teams be willing to trade for a player unless that player was made available?

I'm sure he's available, many players are available, but that doesn't mean that Cashman is aggressively looking to deal him. I'm willing to bet that if he doesn't think he receives an offer close to what he would have had before this season, he wouldn't make a trade.

and because Hughes isnt stretched out enough to handle a starting role. This is the crux of the argument for him to go to AAA. Granted, he's been dynamite out of the pen, so thus far its working. But it leaves us without a legit backup starter outside of Mitre.

Not so sure Mitre is a "legit" backup starter. He is a starter, not a legit one though.

If he wears a Yankee jersey, he must be legit. Keep this in mind when having a conversation with Jacko;)

He's been fantastic in the bullpen' date=' maybe they don't want to mess with it.[/quote']

According to diony, Hughes in the bullpen is better than every Sox reliever not named Papelbon, specifically Manny Delcarmen.

I lol'ed.

Joba was supposed to be the reliever, Hughes the starter who came with more anticipation.

Where is IanKennedy?

He's actually recovering from a surgery earlier this year to take care of an aneurysm.

Well thanks dude, i had no idea.

Everyone knows he had the surgery, we're just saying that 'cause he sucks.

Ian Kennedy is still definitely a guy to keep an eye on. His attitude needs adjusting, that much is for sure. But he was pitching really well in AAA and probably would be in our rotation right now had it not been for his aneurysm. I think he comes back and becomes prime trade bait come the offseason. But dont sleep on him. Just cause he got hurt doesnt mean he is terrible or worthless. But his kind of pitcher, ie finesse stuff with good location, will take awhile to mature at the big league level. Hence why I think he will be better served in the NL on a s*** squad for a few yrs.

No, he's terrible and worthless because he's terrible and worthless. This has nothing to do with his aneuryism and everything to do with what he did with his chances where it counts.

so by that logic' date=' Buchholz is terrible and worthless as well, right?[/quote']

Buchholz has done more with his chances.

Lol so you're comparing a guy with Bucholz's stuff with a guy with Kennedy's lack of stuff?

If by that logic, you're a complete and total biased homer, then that logic is absolutely correct.

Kennedy- 58.2IP 63H 40ER 42K 35BB 6.14ERA 1.67WHIP

Buchholz- 98.2IP 107H 61ER 94K 51BB 5.56ERA 1.60WHIP

By saying he has done more do you mean he has sucked just a bit less than Kennedy has, cause that would be more accurate. Listen, I think Buchholz is a future front of the rotation pitcher if he follows the Jon Lester stuff to production development program and I do not doubt the statement that Buchholz' stuff is better than Kennedy's. But you cannot write off what Kennedy has done at the minor league level and just say he sucks. Both of these guys need time to develop as any young pitchers do and saying that either of them suck and will suck long term is an assinine statement at this juncture

Jacko seems to forget the fact that the only person who could live in the Majors with Greg Maddux's stuff (from when he turned 40 and on) was Greg Maddux.
