Not a big deal in my opinion, just figured with the off day we could get some discussion going. It's a long season and "slumps" like this are normal for everyone. Bay was performing extremely well up until this point and im sure he'll be back soon enough.

Same thought LOL

Bay is in a slump. It happens. I'm sure it won't last two months like Ortiz's did.

I'm calling it now. In 3 weeks there will be at least one "lolwut" post in this thread.

I contend one of those will be from CD, and another one will be from me.

Carry on.

Nothing is wrong with Bay. His OPS is .906, and his career OPS is .892. Law of averages. He's coming back to his historical norms.

What should alarm Red Sox fans is the following:

April 1.123

May .978

June .701

July .422 [two games, insignificant]

But this slump is killing the team's offense.

True - does not say much about our offense either.

We need a big bat by trade deadline.

I'd ask if it was time to start talking Hanley but he keeps getting hurt.

Guy really needs to move from SS. The effort requires to be a SS is killing his career. He's going to have to drop some pounds, and some power, to stay there IMHO.

Why would Florida give you Hanley ?

Everyone is going ga ga over Jason Bay--he seems like a great person and teammate, and a good defensive outfielder, but with a below average arm. He is among the leaders in strikeouts, can not hit a slider on the outside corner, always tries to pull the ball no matter where it is pitched, and does not bend his knees to go down for a low pitch--like Papi and Lowell, he hardly ever goes with an outside pitch to hit to the opposite field--Papi could hit the wall so often if he would try to hit those outside pitches to left. As far as Bay, I think he will want too much $$ for someone with many deficiencies.

My world just turned upside down.
