At the beginning of the year they were willing to go with him at third base till A-Rod came back.

And how'd that work out? They brought up Ransom to replace him.

Brought up Ransom to replace who?

My bad, they replaced Ransom with Pena is what I meant to say. I get the two confused.

And that was only because Ransom got hurt.

Dude, come on, now this is getting ridiculous. Even if Ransom didn't get hurt, he'd still be sitting over Pena. Ransom's hitting .200/.241/.345.

Again, I don't disagree with you. However, they probably look at that as small sample size. My only point is that I think they're fine with Ransom backing up A-Rod. It makes more sense that they got Hinske as a replacement for Nady, rather than as a backup to A-Rod.

Right, they were fine with him backing up A-Rod until he was completely overmatched at the major league level. And as the third string backup at third, they'd probably prefer that he got more regular playing time in Triple-A so he can continue to develop.

Hes a good ballplayer but he is what he is' date=' hardly anything to get excited about[/quote']

It's you Red Sox fans that are getting all worked up over it.

It's crazy that there would be lots of Red Sox fans adding their thoughts about a former Red Sox player moving to a Red Sox rival on a Red Sox board, isn't it?

Can you show me one? I'm pretty sure Red Sox fans are saying it's not a big deal because it's Eric Hinske.

Not once did I say that I think it's a really good move, or that Hinske's a really good player.

My only contentions were that this move was made in response to Xavier Nady being out for the year, and that Hinske is a better offensive player than Ramiro Pena.

In other words, he's horrible.
