I found the movie entertaining. Maybe the expectations where too high. Or it just happend to open at the same time as some other big name movies.

or it was marketed as a family movie but carried a PG-13 rating

The pitching hasnt been the issue there Crunchy. 26 runs over the last 9 games comes out to a 2.8 runs per game. That is what our entire pitching staff has allowed over our 4-5 stretch.

Also, CC would have the Sox lowest pitchers ERA, the most IP, the third highest K total, and their lowest WHIP. Not sure what your definition of an ace is, but if CC doesnt fit it, then nobody on your staff does as well.

That being said, what will happen to Hughes is very intriguing in Yankee circles. I think Joba's recent performances (4 of last 5 starts have gone 6 or more IP) have quelled any talk of him going to the pen. And with Wang actually starting to look better, I doubt very much that Hughes ends up in the rotation anytime soon. One situation that has been repeatedly discussed is as follows.

Right now, Joba is at 75.2IP. His IP cap will be in the 150-160 range for this season. If he continues on this pace, he will be in the 175IP range, which will exceed his cap. And, if he continues to throw 6IP per start, he'll reach 150IP in 12 starts, or by mid August. So one thing that I have seen a lot of is the idea that Hughes goes to AAA by early July and gets stretched out. By late July, Hughes comes up and takes Joba's slot in the rotation and Joba slides back into his relief role for the stretch run. This obviously is entirely predicated on Wang continuing to improve in game situations. Obviously, if Wang fizzles out entirely, then Hughes would slide into his spot and Wang might be the pen man. Regardless, for the stretch run, I expect one of the trio of Wang/Hughes/Joba in the pen and if we make the playoffs, I expect two of them in that role

If we lose Bay we got some problems, i dont even want to think that far ahead.

The more I see JBay the more I want him here forever, the man is quiet, humble and can hit a ton.

We will overpay for this guy or he will walk to NY.

Anyway

Heres where the real action is, Nathans Hot Dog Eating Contest.

Joey Chestnut dethroned the mighty Kobayashi last year but the Japanese guy had an undisclosed injury.

Chestnut comes back as the favorite but Im leaning East and think Kobayashi comes back.

Bay will be an interesting guy to follow. Coming into the yr, there werent any viable options outside of Bay and Holliday. Well, Bay has been a big part of the sox run while Holliday is recovering from a brutal start to the yr. The good thing about Holliday is that he may not be offered arbitration. If the A's dont find a taker (and right now his price tag is so high, nobody is willing to deal for him) then they will have a rough decision to make when it comes to his arb tag. If they offer him arbitration, a lot of people think he'd take it due to his slump this yr. And at 14.5mil this yr and with his entire history behind him, he will likely see a raise which the A's wont be able to afford.

I still think Holliday nets a nice deal--he's only 29 and teams are going to see his Colorado numbers from 2006-08. He shouldn't get as big of a deal as Bay (and he probably won't), but I think it's worth it for Oakland to offer arbitration.

Yea, but his .776 OPS at home this year won't silence any of his detractors who call him a product of Coors Field

I dunno Coco. With the market being set at a serious low last yr and the economy continuing into the shitter, I dont think there will be many teams willing to offer more than 16 million a yr, something I think he can get in arbitration. It is a real concern that Oakland will need to address. Now, if Holliday hits .300 with double digit homers after the AS break, then its a no brainer

Yaz,although its strictly off the table now our sources in the Islands tell us that the o/u will be 60-120 and under 60 a pk. Chestnut is now the man having won last year in overtime when both men tied at 59.

Im a f***ing pig when it comes to food but these guys ingest so much sodium in 1 sitting its a bleeding miracle no one has dropped dead yet from these contests.

Hey, we have lines on the presidential elections, on American Idol, every soccer league from Barcelona to Brazilia and the gambling public does indeed get involved in this event with gusto.

Walrus goes about 350lbs these days, hes more well versed on this contest than I am.

Due to his ahh life choices I fear Dick Gregory and the Milford Fire Dpt along with Geraldo will see him before I do,special harnesses, chain saws and sawzalls will be needed to get him out of the house I hear.

MJ,as we've discussed ad nauseum all these years statistics are garbage when its time to strap in and take the October ride.although Sabby has pitched somewhat well over the last 6 weeks he pulled a Clemens over the weekend and history tells us he is not the guy you want on the hill come playoff time.

Becketts career era in Boston is over 4 including the playoffs, the bottom line is simple.

Who would you want pitching game 7,Beckett or Sabbathia?

Why Theo hasnt inked this guy yet is a mystery and theres no rumors innuendos or discussions currently available...The guy is on pace for 160RBI, hes never been hurt and he is the consumate team player.

Are they waiting for him to slump before approaching him or does he really want to get into a bidding war with the yankees who are hitting like old people f*** these days?

Negotiations are a two way street...

I would be extremely disappointed in the FO if they let this guy walk. They would need a mountain of excuses for me to even begin to listen.

They've been right in terms of who they have let walk most of the time so I'd give them the benefit of the doubt all depending on how they replace him.

There are many things that go into movie ticket prices...salaries are a part, which is why I said "partly." Advertising, marketing and distribution of the film tends to be the largest portion, production next, then actors.

It's true that if you break down the cost of a $9 ticket, that only about 50 cents to 1 buck is what could be seen as going to the actors. Doesn't sound like much, but it is 6-10% of the price of the ticket, and nearly 12-20% of the portion of the ticket price that the studio receives (vs. the portion that the theater receives).

Put down Marx.

Jason Bay is the best hitter on the team, there is no way the sox will let him walk. Bay will get paid there is no reason to worry.

The sox will set a value to Bay as they always do and they wont go too far over it. I would say that he has been the most consistent force on the team mostly because of his propensity for the clutch hit and the power he has provided. That being said, he will be offered a deal that will dwarf the Drew deal. It remains to be seen if the sox will offer that.

AND, remember. He is a Girardi-denoted yankee killer who is young, in his prime and extremely powerful. Plus, the yankees will have an open spot for him and more money coming off the books. If Cashman wants him, then he'll get him. You know this

I love how you pleasure yourself with the whole "If the Yanks want him, they'll get him" phrase while the Red Sox continue to win and the Yankees continue to suck.

Oh, the irony.

That's assuming cashman still has his job next year. if the Yankees miss the playoffs for the second year in a row, and especially if the Sox make said playoffs, after the money he spent this offseason, I have my doubts he will.

And with empty seats in the new stadium' date=' even the Yankees might be forced to be practical.[/quote']

LOL! It sure is odd hearing the words Yankees and practical used in the same sentence.

If Bay goes to the evil empire I'll snap. There is no way that we can let go of someone who has become such a fenway favorite in less than a year, I mean he is the Anti-Manny, the perfect cure for the wound caused by the laid back, dread clad, egoridden, godly right-hander, leaving a wave of anger and dissapointment in the stands. Bay has been a blissfully underspoken player who runs to first on every hit instead of "Bay being Bay". In case you couldn't tell I'll be a bit dissapointed if we let Bay walk out of beantown, esspecially if he walks into Brooklyn.

its true. If Cashman wants a player' date=' he has the money to overpay for that player. It is simple as that[/quote']

I'm pretty sure the Yankees aren't the only team with the ability to overpay for players.

Boston is the perfect place for Jason Bay. He will get an attractive offer from a classy organization steeped in baseball history in the best baseball/hockey town in professional sports. Best fit for both parties.
