Though Lowrie admits that he can finally see the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel, he vowed not to look too far ahead.

"Once I get back in there, I'll hopefully [be activated] in a couple of weeks," Lowrie said. "I think we're going to try to spread out the at-bats -- do three one day, maybe take a day off. I don't know exactly the schedule. I don't think I'm just going to jump right into playing nine innings.

YESSSS!!!

well, when you have pressure on people who have no future, then it isnt an issue. When you have a kid who has been serviceable and is green coming up at SS and expected to be spectacular, you run the risk of ruining him.

He had been solid, and was comfortable with Pedroia, another young guy. Cream rises to the top, pal, walk the walk, you know that.

Who expects him to be spectacular? I think most people are just hoping his a good utility guy and can just plug the SS hole this year.

I don't think Red Sox fans are expecting the kid to be anything more than what he's shown to date...a decent fielding SS with some ability to hit, but with limited pop, limited star potential. He is what he is, and if the rest of the Sox line-up performs the way they can, they'll be fine with Lowrie in the line-up.

I don't pressure being an issue...in fact one could make a case that there is very little pressure on him given the other SS options the team has.

how can there be THAT much pressure on a guy who won't bat higher than 7th all season? for f***'s sake, get real jacko

Yer nuts, Jacko. If anything, all this nonsense with Lugo and Green has lowered the pressure on Lowrie. Now all he has to do to earn the appreciation of the fans is not be worse than Lugo and a career mL'er

I'm not expecting too much from Lowrie ' date=' as long as he can do a little better the Nick Green , I'll be happy[/quote']

That was my position for a long while. But now in my secret heart I'm hoping Green will do a lot more dazzling plays in the time he has left, and ... but I don't really expect it.

I'm sure if he's given a good chance to get comfy playing again, and his injury issues are gone, I think Lowrie, w/Green as backup, will be fine for now.

As long as it isn't Lugnut, I'm happy.
