Not on his terms' date=' I think the sox will decline their part of the mutual option, leaving wake to either sign somewhere else, or hang them up. He wont pitch for another team other than Boston.[/quote']

No chance they decline imo. His contract is a steal even at half a season.

I dont think we'll see tazawa in a meaningful game next year unless we get bit bad by the injury bug.

Wakefields health is all f***ed up,I would be surprised if he were to come back next year based on his back injury leading to extreme discomfort in his legs.

Bucholz has been a stud, he wont see Rhode Island again unless he flies over it.

Beckett,Bucholz,DiceK,Lester are 4 of the 5 starters we'll see.

All in their 20s too, what a f***ing bonus that is.

I expect them to pick up a veteran or 2 in the offseason to fill the other slot with Bowden given a chance to see what he can do in Florida.

the bullpen will be looked at again.

BWagner will not be brought back as he isnt interested in signing here next year unless he can close. Bard Paps Ramirez Okijima and MDC will be here, another arm will be bought or brought up, this maybe the place for Bowden to get a longer look.

Tazawa just isnt good enuff to pitch in the Majors at this stage of his development inspite of the white washing he gave NY when we needed it most...The sox outfield looked like the Jamaican relay team that afternoon as they were running down 1 screaming liner after...The Yanks left 16? men on base in his outing and the following start he got smacked around very hard too..He came out of the Japanese minors and hes still young but without k/o velocity and a deceptive motion to the plate he didnt fool anyone, you really cant teach fastballs and he will have to make a living like Okijima, a limited role in middle relief is the best I can see for him....Or he can go to the National League and compete for the cy young

Pete Abraham, Jon Heyman, Gordon Edes and Rob Bradford all reporting within the last few minutes that Tazawa is in Birmingham, Alabama right now getting his right elbow checked by Dr. James Andrews. Not good news.

Not surprised. Its a different baseball and a different grind than what he's used to. Not surprised to see a young arm under that stress give out. Hell, it could be why his velocity was down last yr.

I am not surprised that there is something wrong with his arm. Last spring he looked very good. This spring he was horrible. He had nothing. Guys were hitting big bombs off him quite regularly.

TJS is far better then what it used to be. Plus this kid is young. He should have a good chance at bouncing back.

Junichi Tazawa paid a visit to Dr. James Andrews over the weekend and has been diagnosed with a sprained ulnar collateral ligament.

Tazawa and the Red Sox are considering various options for treatment, ranging from rehab to Tommy John surgery. Either way, it appears he won't be pitching for at least the first half of the 2010 season. Tazawa, a 23-year-old from Japan, had an impressive 2.55 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 109 1/3 innings last season between Double-A Portland and Triple-A Pawtucket.

A sprain entails tearing to the ligament. Depends on the grade, Grade 1's have stretching of the ligament with micro tears, all the way to grade 3, which is a complete tear. Pitchers with UCL sprains usually need the knife
