Still didnt use the term appropriately' date=' but you did at least make it witty, so it passes.[/quote']

C- is a mediocre grade, but it's still a passing one.

Thank you, Defender of Jacko.

Would you please and at least try to take circumstances into account?

I'm pretty sure most people (you and Jacko included) would have s*** their pants and walked the park if your debut occured in that situation.

If that's the case, they don't deserve to be a major league pitcher.

I'm not defending Jacko, I'm looking at it objectively. Objectively, it was a bad outing.

If you mean objectively from a TheKilo standpoint then it wasn't bad, it was f***ING HORRIBLE.

If he had managed to get A-Rod then it would have been a really, really good outing for a kid who has never faced mlb hitters before being called on in a big situation.

I hear what you're saying about results, but results go both ways. He got out of one inning and then almost got through Jeter, Damon, Teixeira and A-Rod in extra innings. He didn't, which is why this discussion can be had, but that dam was bound to burst anyway.

I was impressed regardless of his results on the scoreboard and look forward to him starting games sometime in the future.

A generic reliever goes up there throws 1 2/3 innings and gives up a 2 run HR, that's a bad outing, sure. Letting the extenuating circumstances into the discussion, the kid showed some poise, and pitched well, got out of a nasty little jam in the 14th and nearly got out of the 15th as well.

Add that to the fact that he never should have been pitching in the first place as he'd just been called up that day and likely did some travelling to get to the game in time, well, it's just not that big a deal that he gave up a 2 run shot to one of the better RHH's in recent history.

How exactly did his stuff look on friday? I couldnt tell from where I was sitting.

Actually pretty good.

Low-to-mid 90's fastball, some bite to his breaking stuff with about what you could ask for of his command in that situation.

I didn't call it f***ING HORRIBLE.

I called it "bad"

Do you dispute this?

Not at all.

I was obviously exaggerating, no need to get butthurt about it.

He also gave up 2 more hits and some loud outs. If he cannot handle the travel, then he wont be a good major leaguer.

13 baserunners in 5 innings is terrible. And no strikeouts. This guy is not the savior of 2009. He has one really good pitch and needs to work on the location of his FB to be effective. His SR's varied widely from Japan, but the majority had him right around 90mph with the heat and with a knee buckling curve. He's shown this, albeit without the consistency yet in the strike zone to be useful. I dont think he's a future ace, not by a long shot, but he should profile well into the middle or back of a rotation once he gets his command issues squared away. That being said, he belongs in AAA for the rest of this season and most of next. If he has a rotation spot coming out of the gate in 2010, then Theo made a mistake cause he isnt ready.

Wow do you have to tack one of these onto the end of every Red Sox prospect post? 2010 is a LONG way away

and why the f*** would he? Beckett, Lester, Dice-K, Buchholz, Wakefield is probably the most obvious 2010 rotation right now

Putting Wake and DiceK back into the rotation for 2010 is a good way to get Tazawa a lot of innings in the bigs early in 2010

What does this mean?

Posted

I hope Wake sits out the 1st half of next season and comes back the 2nd half. It's usually when they could use a fresh arm.

This is just my opinion but I think one of Dice-K/Tazawa will be part of a trade this off season.

Posted
His way of saying Dice and Wake shouldn't be counted on for a full season.

I'm guessing that Jacko does not expect Wake or Dice to be able to go deep into games and that Tazawa would provide long relief.

Posted
I personally think Wakefield is gonna hang 'em up at the end of the year anyway and that Dice-K will have a bounce-back season.

Not on his terms, I think the sox will decline their part of the mutual option, leaving wake to either sign somewhere else, or hang them up. He wont pitch for another team other than Boston.

Signing Wake again (unless for the second half) would be a huge mistake. I'd start Tazawa over Wake any day (he wasn't that bad his last two starts, especially the full game against the Yankees).
