I think he was responding to the Green/Lugo debate earlier in the thread. If I'm right, then yea I'd rather have Jeter and his defensive deficiencies over Lugo or Green

I don't know what's funnier. The idea of us wanting a mediocre defensive shortstop who makes more than both of our mediocre defensive shortstops combined, and who only has one or two more years before a devestating unnescessary jump/swivel related knee injury, or the fact that you may have actually been serious.

His range is bad, but he's solid when he gets to the ball, and he can hit. Your SS's can't hit, field, or throw. It would be like us saying we don't want Bay because he isn't a great defensive left-fielder.

Lugo (and I'm choking on these words) still MAY become better over the next two or three seasons.

Jeter can only get worse.

Once BABIP is kind to Lester it's going to be awesome

Yeah, I smell a great second half coming from him and Beckett both. All they need is to win on the road and this team will be even more awesome than it is already.

I'm more concerned about HR/9, and they're both primed for a massive drop.

I have watched the sox games. Lugo still has average to good range, but his decision making, his hands and his arm completely sucks. Green has poor range, has good hands but his arm accuracy is atrocious. Jeter has poor range, but he fields the ball well and throws on target. Not to mention, he's an elite offensive player for his position. As much as you'd like to deny it, Jeter would be a hell of an option if the sox could get him. Dont try to deny that

I'd rather take a SS with limited range who can make the throws. Green and Lugo have better range but it becomes moot since they completely suck once they get to the ball. Plus Jeter can still hit

I don't know how this discussion started. But Lugo and Green are clearly inferior players to Jeter. Given my choice, I'd take Jeter on my team. It will never happen so the idea is moot.

For the rest of this season, maybe. But the money wouldn't be worth it. He'd be getting more than any two of the best players on the team combined, and he's almost 35.
